Does anyone else really just not care for the word "blog"?

It sounds like one of those low-level adversaries in an RPG - a mindless ball of gook and ichor that globbers through the dungeon muck and dies in one hit. Except this time it has a slick layout and a Story To Tell.

I don't care for it either, but it is better than "mob" (which IS a random enemy met in an MMORPG)

I use LJ. Because that's accurate. For me. And you.

I don't mind the term, though I never think of Ye Olde LJ as a blog. From what I see of the LJ phenomenom (and I'm sure there's much more than I am seeing), most people do not stick to a coherent enough theme to have their LJs really be blogs. (But bla bla bla what is a blog really? bla bla.) LJ is a journal. Things at diaryland are diaries (well, or journals.) I think of blogs as actual opinion websites which are updated regularly, but that have some underlying theme beyond mere blogginess. (RL "blogs"--no matter their following or status--are also just diaries in my opinion... spots to air out your wank and narcissism so that polite society doesn't have to deal with it.)

Aaaaaaannnnnddd there are like 340098324 holes in this, which is what happens when you formulate opinion on the spot, for the mere sport of formulating opinion.
