I prefer 'Miss' as well. While I'm glad that there's a term for women who are older and/or who prefer not to make their marital status a thing of common knowledge, I certainly wouldn't make anyone bend over backwards to use it on me.
Then again, by the time I'm old enough to be at a point where 'Miss' seems a little childish, I hope to have a PhD or a D.Phil and so get around the question entirely. ^_^
Yeah, but have you ever noticed that when you say "Please call me Doctor" to someone who uses another form of address you sound like a huge tool? Whether it's an MD or a PhD.

Miss is what really old dudes would call me.
Perha's Ma'am is safest? I like that one. And it's what I call all women I don't know, because Ms. has to have an argument with it.
