I have an interview today!

At Sephora at 1:30. I hate interviews, so they always make me nervous, but I do have a good feeling about this. I saw a KGRG sticker on a light post after I dropped my application yesterday, and I took it as a good omen. KGRG is Green River Community College's radio station, and I listened it to it for years when I lived closer to it. ( Read more... )

yay interview!

So here's my thing about interviews. When I go to one, I try not to think about how much I want the job, or how worried I am that someone better qualified has already been in for an interview (things I can't control). Instead, I try to focus on simply being confident that *I* can do the job well if I get it, and letting that just come through naturally.

From there, I figure if they don't see the same thing and pick me, it just means that it wouldn't have been as good a fit as I thought... so it's a good thing they didn't pick me because the job itself would've been a disappointment. Once I get that into my head that if I don't get the job, I probably wouldn't have wanted it anyway, it's easy not to worry about whether or not I get it.

Am I fooling myself? Could be. That's not the point, the point is that it's an interview strategy that has totally helped me calm down and be myself. Hope this helps!

I think that will help, and I've been thinking along the same lines. I put in my resume that I believed that a positive work environment improved morale, confidence, and therefor higher productivity and sales from the employees, and I wished to work for a company that felt the same way...I considered taking it out, because I felt it might be to forward, but then I decided that anyone who took exception to that wasn't someone I wanted to work for anyway. I will take your advice and consider the fact that if I don't get the job, it's not due to any shortcoming on my part, rather, it wouldn't have been a good fit.

i think the last time i got to here it was when we used to get it in your car by my old appt..
