Comments: Based off of the song 88.
They sat together, waiting for the sun to rise; waiting for the moment when one would leave the other and go off to fulfill his dream. A cool breeze flew by, reminding both of them how early it was in the new day. They sat in silence, but with each hand encased in another.
“Shinji,” one spoke with shivers in his voice.
“Are you cold?” the first shook his head. The older unzipped his jacket and placed it on the other’s shoulders. “Right. Sure.”
“Do you have to go?” he looked up with his pleading eyes. “I mean, you’re my only friend here. No one likes me.”
“I’m sorry.” And silence came again.
Hours passed and deep hues of reds, oranges and pinks began to blossom from the darkened plains and hills. Shinji let go of the other’s hand and reached in his coat pocket (which was currently on the other) and took out a large, elongated velvet box. The taller looked curiously at the box, wondering what it contained.
“Here” Shinji handed it over.
“What-“
“Just take it and open it.”
The younger one reached his hand towards the long box and opened it slowly. Inside was a long black hair clip, with a numerous colors on the differing stars that covered the clip.
Shinji took out a matching box from the pocket, but this time it was a smaller box. He handed the rectangular box to him and watched him open it. This time, it was a festival hair pin that the women wore with kimonos and yukatas. Its pale purple color was adorned with a charm that hung from the end. The chain was decorated with more stars, this time with just light pink and light yellow and the end had a larger, white star.
One more box was taken from the pocket, this one being the smallest. It was a square box that was less than half the size of the second box.
“Why so many?” the younger asked.
“Don’t worry. This is the last, Masahito-chan.” And handed him the last. Masahito eagerly took this one and opened it with haste. This, unlike the others, had no stars and was not a hair clip or pin. I was a simple silver ring with engraving.

“I don’t get it.”
“Be patient, it’ll make sense later.” Shinji stood. “I have to go. You want to come with me?” He held out his hand to the other male.
The other paused before answering, “Yeah.” Masahito took the offered hand and the other pulled him off the cold ground.
“Look, Masahito-chan!” Shinji pointed towards the rising sun and the surrounding colors. The beautiful colors erupted around the bright star, showing a new day had risen; or the day that Masahito didn’t ever want to happen.
“Ahh, it’s so beautiful!” They stared for a moment and then kept walking towards Shinji’s car, filled with suitcases full of clothes and other possessions.
“I’m going to miss you.” Masahito said quietly.
“I’m going to miss you too.” Shinji came to the younger and gave him a hug. “When you graduate, find me, okay?” He whispered softly on the other’s neck, making the other shiver.
“Of course.” Shinji let go of Masahito and went into his car and waved goodbye. “Sayonara.”

“Maayatan~~~~!” a man yelled through the hallway. Another male turned his head, not expecting the large impact coming from behind.
“Miyavi-san! What are you doing?” Maya asked the other curiously.
“I dunno.” Miyavi let go of the “black-blonde” Maya. “I’m going out for a smoke. But you were fat and in my way.” Maya let out the expression of surprise. “Aha. Just kidding. You’re just anorexic.”
“Sure. I guess I’ll just move my fat and get out of the way.” Maya scooted over to the side, letting the younger pass through.
“Thank you!” He ran out very excited, almost running into the door and Maya followed. “Eh? Why are you following me?! STALKER.” Miyavi shouted obnoxiously.
“I’m just taking a break from being in there. I feel so… claustrophobic.” Maya walked passed Miyavi and inhaled the fresh air (fresh = pollution, nicotine, etc.).
“No. I like the thought of you stalking me everywhere.” Miyavi grinned viciously as he took out a box of cigarettes and his lighter.
“I’m gonna walk around for a bit.”
“Just don’t get lost!”
“I’ve been driving to the same building for over two years. I don’t think I’m gonna get lost anytime soon.” Maya walked away from the vocalist.
Maya waltzed around for about ten minutes now, stopping at Starbucks for a nice frap. He sat down at one of the tables, staring at people walking in and out of the doors. After a while, he just dozed off, thinking about the years passing by. He remembered his best friend leave him in Maya’s freshman year. He remembered those depressing years without anyone to talk to. Last time he heard, Shinji had gotten into a band named Pierrot; and now Pierrot is a really popular band. After he graduated, He did as Shinji told him, find him. He went to Tokyo, looking for a “Mizui Shinji” but no one knew him. That was before Pierrot was popular, of course.
Then a man walked through the doors, not really tall, but very skinny with a small face as well. Maya was staring at him intensely, watching the man order his caffeine-filled drink. He walked over to Maya slowly.
“Excuse me, can I sit here? Everywhere else is filled up.” He asked cautiously. Maya just looked at his face in awe, then realized he was being spoken to.
“Oh, yes. Of course!” Maya stated quickly. He raised his hand with his cup and took a sip of the brown liquid.
“Can I see that ring?” the man pointed out.
“Yeah sure.” Maya removed his ring and gave it to the man. He read the engraving so many times.
“Are you… Yamazuki… Masahito?” the man spoke quietly.
“Yeah.” He hadn’t heard someone call him that for so many years.
“Are you serious?!” the man shouted. “I’m Shinji!” It took a little bit for Maya to process the information.
“You mean, Mizui Shinji? Like, from Nagano?”
“Uh huh!” he stood up suddenly. “I’m Aiji around here though.”
“I’m Maya. Maya and Aiji.” Maya smiled. He came around to the other chair and gave Aiji a tight hug and set his head on his shoulder. “I missed you so much! It’s been over ten years!”
“I know. I missed you too.” Aiji held the other man. “You’re hair is different.” He plucked around at the blonde locks under the deepest black.
“Speak for yourself.” Maya’s fingers went through the short reddish hair. “Besides, I’m gonna dye it all blonde… sooner or later.”
“Huh. So what are you doing around here?” Aiji asked, letting go of Maya.
“I’m part of Miyavi’s support band.” He smiled happily at his bestie.
“Eh? Miyavi? Lucky.”
“Yeah. I’ve wanted to quit though. It’s not Miyavi; I love Miyavi. But it’s just… I want to do something different.”
“Well, Pierrot just disbanded. We all wanted to go separate ways. So I’m open.”
“Hey! How about we make a band together! It’d be so cool!”
“Yeah! That’d be so awesome! We totally should!”
“But we need a singer.”
“Psh, If you’re still the Masahito from back in the day, your voice will be as beautiful as before.”
“But I don’t wanna sing!” Maya pouted. “I don’t like my voice.”
“But everyone else will!” Aiji leaned over to Maya’s ear.”I miss this.” Aiji licked Maya’s ear and breathed on his oversensitive ear.
“Ah. I almost forgot that.” Maya turned his head to face to Aiji’s His face enclosed the space and kissed Aiji lightly on the lips.
“Remember that sunrise?” Aiji whispered.
“Yeah.”
“I haven’t seen another as beautiful as that day.”
“Really…? The most beautiful…” Maya thought about it. “I haven’t either.”
“Let’s just say that sunrise, that one sunrise, is you.” Aiji paused and let his skinny hands rest on Maya’s cheeks. “There’s never been a more beautiful person then you. I’m just lucky I saw you, like that sunrise. Lucky to see something as spectacular as you.” Aiji let one of his hands fall and grabbed the forgotten ring from the table. “I love you.” He slipped the ring on Maya’s ring finger.
“I love you too.” Maya kissed him… again.
