Use tanning lotion. My mom does, and she gets really tan (for her skin tone at least). My sister uses it too sometimes and she gets tan as well, without streaks. I'll probably start trying it for prom and stuff as well.
I suggest against it. Depending on the kind you get, it can make you look dirty sometimes, and if you apply it incorrectly, it can give the appearance of a very unnatural looking suntan. I know a girl who did it and on certain spots of her body, namely hands and arms, it looked almost green. Yeah. Just lay out in the sun.
So you would rather Tessa got cancer?! If done correctly and used correctly, it should be fine! If she is worried about streaking and spots, she could always just do it during the summer and if something goes wrong...she can just hide out until it goes away! (Depressing thought...)
And by the way Tessa, I don't think you need a tan at all, you have such pretty skin.
WoahWoah, hold on now. Don't get me wrong. Cancer is nothing to mess with. But I will say that after quite a bleak and snowy winter here in the D, many girls have been experimenting with different ways to get a nice tan, and the lotion has more failure than success.
Or just stay white, as I do. I mean, you don't really need a tan, as laurrren said.
