Welp, I have something of moderate to exciting news to post about this time.

I GOT A JOB!

... WELL, BETTER THAN THE LAST ONE I HAD THAT I'M ACTUALLY HAPPY WITH!

It's the one my cousin has been trying to get me. Well, the same company anyway. The same one that I've been having mental crises over the past few weeks. I'm working with a team who are doing this project for the school district here (DISD) called the Digital Classroom project. Basically, we set up these carts with laptops, cameras and cables, and then install things like something called a Smart white board and a wireless speaker system into classrooms. Usually, the hours are from 2 pm til midnight, which I don't mind that much, I just need to arrange a way to get me picked up from the place at that time. But I didn't do any of that today, on my first day of work.

The only thing is, from what my cousin tells me from his experience with the team, most of the people working on this project are... let's say half hardasses and one-fourth lazy asses. The work itself is easy enough, but the people are kinda terrible to work with.

So my cousin is going to try to get me moved to the team he's working under. They need more guys anyway, it's a regular morning to afternoon workday, and it's even easier work apparently, and I've got a steady and reliable way to get to work by riding with my cousin. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how that goes along next week.

The one strange thing is how they do pay. Officially, we only get paid once a month. But, in the middle of the month, or something along that, they give a $500 advance that we can take or not. It's more or less money "coming right out of their pockets" so it doesn't get taxes and whatever other government things taken out. The downside is that the official paycheck does have more money taken out for that stuff, but it sort of works out the same either way.

Another thing is overtime. There's going to be at least one hour of overtime everyday. A standard workday is supposed to be 8 hours, but we're usually scheduled 10 hours. One hour is taken off as lunch time, regardless if we took lunch or not. So, I'm supposed to be getting good overtime pay.

So far, everything is alright. It was slow today due to it being Friday and... most of the guys on the team didn't show up, so all I did was work on spreadsheets. And according to my cousin, the whole project is on hiatus because some new thing that they want to use with these systems hasn't even been approved by the FCC so until that happens, the only thing we can do is prepare all these carts. And my cousin is going to use that as a way to get me moved to his team. Again, we'll see how it goes.

So tl;dr -> I got a job, it's a pretty easy $10 an hour, but working with douchebags is high on the probability scale, and my cousin is going to try to get me moved to his section and team.

... Five hundred bucks puts me right into range of getting a Mac Mini |D
