Chapter Four:
He was screwed.
Yabu Kota was, first and foremost, a playboy, and he never was hung up on just one woman, ever. For him women were of a use-once and then discard degree, and he has followed that rule for the whole length of his life on earth.
But that was before his birthday rolled in. That was before his idiotic friends gave him that girl as a birthday present.
He has tried sleeping with other girls. But even before he reaches his peak during sex, he always gets reminded of her and he would stop and leave his bedmate hanging, wanting for the completion that he gives effortlessly before.
Yabu cursed under his breath as he once again stopped moving on top of his bedmate, closing his eyes as memories of her flooded his mind.
He rolled out of the bed hastily, reached for the bottle of brandy on the night table and poured some into a glass, drinking in it one gulp. He had to steady his nerves, and alcohol allowed him just that.
“Are you alright, Kota?” Kojima Haruna asked as she sat up on the bed, reaching out to touch Yabu’s bare back and shoulder.
“I’m alright,” he said coldly as he grabbed a towel hanging inside his cabinet and pulled it around him to cover his nakedness as he moved towards the bathroom to take a bath. He stood under the shower and willed his memories to clear out with the sweat and the grime of the day by the water. When he deemed himself presentable enough, he came outside, dripping wet, to see Haruna still sitting on the bed.
“I’ll go ahead of you,” he said as he pulled into his clothes. He didn’t cast the girl another look as he put on his shoes. He murmured a soft goodbye as he left.

The office has been his welcome refuge. At least here, he could bury himself in work and not a whit would he think of the girl he slept with on his birthday, or the other girls he left hanging because of that same girl.
He was sitting on his swivel chair when his butler came in. “Young Master, the Master Takaki is here to see you. Shall I send him in?”
Yabu gave the butler a short, impersonal nod, and within seconds, a tall brunette guy came in, a good-natured smirk on his face.
“Yo!” he said.
Yabu nodded as he shuffled through some papers on his desk. “What brings you here?”
Takaki lounged on one of the comfortable chairs in Yabu’s office. It was his practice, and, though Yabu was irked by it, he still welcome his friend’s presence in the office.
“Nothing much. I just missed you!” Takaki said in a high, falsetto voice, making Yabu chuckle for a bit, then Takaki’s voice went down to its normal register. “That and the piece of news I received that you now suck at satisfying girls.”
“It’s your fault,” Yabu said as he looked out of the open window where Takaki has headed to, lighting up a cigarette. Yabu watched his friend do so, and felt like he itched to smoke one, then he remembered that he had quit smoking a long time ago.
Takaki turned to Yabu, eyes wide. “My fault? What, you were thinking of me the whole time? You’re gay, Yabu?”
“Stupid. Of course not.” Yabu said, glaring at him.
“Well, why is it my fault, then?” Takaki said as he took a drag from the cigarette in his mouth. “If you said it was Inoo’s fault why you always put out on all the girls you’ve slept with these past months, I would have readily believed it. I would have even cheered you on!”
“Shut up, Takaki,” Yabu said in frustration. “I’m not gay. Get that into that thick skull of yours.”
Takaki blinked at the callousness of the older guy’s tone. Yabu was normally more considerate. He took a deep inhale of the cigarette, and, upon exhaling, he said, “Well? What’s the matter?”
There was a silence.
“Remember the girl you gave me on my birthday?”
Takaki nodded. “Yes.”
“Everytime I’m sleeping with other girls, I always see her.”
Takaki fox-whistled. “Whoa. That’s serious, bro. You sound as if you’re in love.” He laughed at his own statement. Yabu couldn’t fall in love in just one night!
“I think I am.”
He choked on his own cigarette smoke. “Wait, what? Yabucchi, have I heard correct? You’re in love?” Takaki tried to laugh it off. Inoo and Hikaru would kill if Yabu fell in love with a girl they hired.
“I know you know her. Where can I find her?” Yabu asked.
“That was a one-night stand, Yabu, how can you fall in love with a girl you have had a one-night stand with?”
“Don’t judge. You weren’t the one who had sex with the girl. You don’t know how she is.”
“Is she that good?” Takaki asked. “I should definitely ask her to come to my bed on my birthday, then.”
“Shut up,” Yabu said, eyes sharp at Takaki. “Try to do that and I’ll make sure you will not be able to be a dad, Takaki Yuya.”
Takaki gulped. Whoa, this is serious, I have to tell the guys.
“Calm down, Yabu. How can you be so sure about her? She can be shady. Besides, she’s married!” Takaki said, then his eyes widened. Oh shit.
“She’s married?”
“Uhh.. Did I say that? I don’t even know her,” Takaki denied as he shook his head wildly.
“I heard you loud and clear, Takaki,” Yabu demanded. His eyes on Yuya were deadly.
“Okay, fine, I admit, I know her. Hikaru is the one who keeps in touch with her since her mom is hospitalized in Inoo Medical Hospital,” Takaki explained.
“What’s her name?” Yabu asked, jumping up and grasping at Takaki’s collar. “And where can I find her?”
“Her name is Mizusawa Elena, but now it’s Miura Elena. That’s the only information I know about her.” Takaki said calmly as he chuckled.
Yabu let go of his collar and sat back on his swivel chair. He reached for the flask of brandy that he kep on his table and poured himself a glass. “Help me find her, Yuya.”
“You know how busy I am, Yabu. I’m a mafia leader, and things like these don’t come easy. You know that.”
“That’s why I want you to help me out.”
Takaki realized what Yabu was asking: and that was the help of his mafia connections. He hurriedly stood up and rushed out of the room. “Ahh! I Forgot! I have a date today! So see you later, Yabu, bye!”
Yabu sighed and looked in the reddish brown liquid in his glass.
“Elena… so that is your name…”

Hikaru watched Takaki blubber around like a big baby.
“Honestly, Yuuyan. Calm down. I can’t understand a thing that you’re saying,” Hikaru complained.
“It’s about the girl you guys hired for Yabu’s birthday,” Yuya finally got it out.
“What, she causing trouble?” Hikaru asked.
“No, Yabu’s looking for her,” Takaki sighed.
“Anything wrong that happened?” Hikaru asked, alert, looking at Takaki who seemed about to cry. Really. It was wonder why Takaki was the head of a mafia organization in Japan. He was such a kid sometimes. “Speak up!”
Two men in black behind Yuya moved towards Hikaru briskly. Hikaru immediately yelped and hid behind Takaki.
“Yuki, Genji, it’s fine.” Yuya told his bodyguards. He sighed as his men retreated. “Need, I remind you that I am a mafia leader?”
“I’m sorry!” Hikaru said. “But you wouldn’t speak up!”
“Argh, forget it. We have to call Daiki.”
--//--//--//
“You didn’t have to come all the way here, Kei,” Hikaru said as he helped the private nurse assist his friend to sit on a chair. He winked at the girl. “I’m Yaotome Hikaru. What’s your name?”
“Sakuraba Nanami,” the girl said softly.
“Nice to meet - OW! Kei what the hell!” Hikaru yowled when Kei pinched him.
“Just get to it and tell me what happened,” the blind guy said.
“Yabu’s looking for Elena,” Takaki said. “He thinks he’s in love.”
Daiki burst out laughing. “He fell in love with a girl he had a one-night stand with?”
Takaki grinned at Daiki. “Dude, I was just saying that.”
“Seriously, I never thought that Yabu was so mushy,” Daiki said. Then he turned serious. “For real? I mean, that girl, she’s already married.”
“We must definitely discourage Yabu from seeking the girl out,” Kei said decisively. “Has he ever shown interest in other girls?”
“Just last night he was with Kojima Haruna-chan,” Takaki said. Daiki gave him a how did you know that? stare. Takaki pretended to not notice.
“Great. Now, let this be a mission for all of us. Let’s make Yabu fall in love with Haruna-chan so that he’ll forget about Mizusawa-san. Clear?” Kei said.
“Yokai,” the three other guys nodded.
