Who: Rinku and Shura
Where: street
When: middle of the day
Summary: Rinku and Shura run into each other and violence ensues...
School holidays were great. It was like having a break from life, with no work and no training and no chores. Why didn't they have holidays like these in the makai?
Oh that was right- no school.
Rinku mentally kicked himself for such an idiotic thought, as he strayed away from the temple and towards the suburban part of town. With no one to fight, he had quickly gotten over the prospect of training, and decided his time would be better spent wandering the ningenkai.
It had been a good hour before he began to realise how far he had walked, recognising the buildings on either side of him as ones he passed when avoiding school.
Shura had slipped out of the house while his father was doing paperwork and Youda was off doing...Youda things. Whatever that meant. So the young goat, bored out of his mind, ventured out of the house, looking around as he closed the door behind him. Well, things could be worse, he could still be stuck being watched over by Onji.....but before his father or Youda caught him, Shura decided to head down the street to explore more of the ningen city.
As he walked down one side of the main road, Rinku was rudely interrupted by a large crowd of people, who found it just to appear suddenly from a side street and conjest the path in front of him, moving quite leisurely at a snail's pace.
Muttering something about stupid ningen, the child demon darted right, speeding up to over take them and hurry down an intersecting road which appeared to be less crowded.
He was just about to enter a funny looking toy shop on his left when something- or someone- caught his eye.
Damnit, the long break and caused him to forget Shura even existed. He should have just stayed where he was.
Shura's violet eyes fell upon Rinku as he rounded the corner. He frowned, remembering what had happened at the end of the school term. But he walked on, deciding to try to ignore Rinku.
Oh, but Rinku wasn't going to ignore him. His expedition out of the temple had been ruined, and whether he approached Shura or not, nothing would change that. Although the sight of him had caused Rinku to remember something, a little discovery he made towards the end of the school term.
And with that thought in mind he began to approach the other.
"Don't try to ignore me, Koujou. You're obviously lost...here, i'll help you find your Nanny." Oh how he hated this kid.
Shura turned his eyes towards Rinku, giving the other a very disdainful look. "I am not lost. But what are -you- doing here?" he asked evenly, crossing his arms.
"Just looking," Rinku crossed his arms, looking away and turning his nose up at Shura. "I Don't need to be accompanied when shopping, brat. But i can kinda understand if you're lost, You've never been here before, right?" And at this he spun back around to glower at the other demon; implications worked wonders.
Of course that was something he didn't learn from Chuu. That stupid oaf was always so blunt.
"That's none of your business," Shura said with a frown. He did not remember that he had pretty much revealed himself as a demon to Rinku so the implication was lost on the young goat.
He wasn't done yet though.
"Mmmhmm...well...i hear there's a magic shop round here. You like that stuff right, tricks and stuff. Like blowing up chairs. The word 'chairs' was hissed, making it quite clear that Rinku had not gotten over that little quarrel yet. But moreso, that he had not forgotten his suspicion. Of course, he wasn't ready to come right out and call Shura a demon- that would only prove that he knew there was such a thing.
That was it!
Shura gave Rinku a long look. "The only trick in your chair collapsing was your weight," he stated in a slow tone, as if Rinku was a young child.
"Well then it must be some magic that yours didn't!" He grinned, quite proud with himself for that one. But, they did not need a repeat of the last fight, that was not why he had confronted the 'Principal's son.' "Geez...you're so annoying. You know if it wasn't for your father you wouldn't even be in school anymore. Just give up and go home, freak."
Shura narrowed his eyes dangerously. "And you are tiresome and immature. I am surprised you even are allowed outside alone, let alone have the intelligence to attend classes. Perhaps I will have my father fix that," he said in an arrogant tone. He refused to back down from this annoying kid.
"Father...really..." Rinku rolled his eyes, this kid sure knew how to act. But for now he'd just have to play along, "Where's your proof brat? You were the one who attacked me during lunch, after all. 'Sides, i remember my grades beating yours. So what does that make you?"
Stupid annoying kid...no doubt he was D-class.
"That is not what I will tell Father. Father gave me a pony, I don't even need good grades," Shura smirked, being the brat he was.
"oh what? Is Daddy gonna pay your way into College too?" Rinku sneered,. needless to say Shura's arrogance was equally matched. "And you got a *Pony!* What a great present for a big big boy." The level of sarcasm only grew, oh how Rinku looked forward to the day when he could put this boy in his place.
"Of course," Shura stated as if Rinku was slow. He was unaware that ponies were more for young kids but he liked his pony nonetheless.
"Funny... i thought you needed good grades to get a job. Not that i care about what happens to you." Rinku had to restrain himself from laughing, this kid really was stupid. It would have been amusing enough to stand there and laugh at him, but the child demon found it better to point out Shura's mistake...that way the other could know he was laughing at him. "Are you from another world, brat? Ya meant to get over Ponies when you're 5!"
Well in demon world, not even 5 year olds are that stupid. I'm pretty sure i was fighting at that age.
Shura stared at Rinku for a bit. He was about a year old but he was unsure of what the other was talking about. "I am not!" he insisted with a frown to cover his mistake...hopefully.
"Mature? Yeah i know. Grow up kid, or did your Daddy pay for you to skip Elementary school as well?"
"I am more intelligent than you are, Father did not have to pay anyone for me to get into school," Shura huffed.
Rinku sighed, this was getting no where and he didn't want to return home having accomplished nothing but a meaningless quarrel.
"Alright alright, ya can stop pretending now. Geez... you really are stupid. Didya think i'd see all this and just let ignore it? I dunno who you are...but you're up to something. I know that much."
Unfortunately, Shura was not one of the fighters he had remembered well from the Makai tournament. Just quietly, he was too busy chasing skirts to notice much- aside from the fact that they had lost. But hopefully, if he made it clear he was suspicious, the demon would eventually own up himself. Hopefully.
Shura was silent for a moment, wondering if this annoying kid had found out who he really was. "Stop pretending what? You really are strange and tiresome," he stated in a flat tone. He was not going to own up since Yomi and Youda had both given him endless lectures about not discussing certain things
"Well until you're smart enough to work that out, i'll pretend nothings wrong. But tell me Saniiro-" that was his name right? It wasn't something Rinku bothered to remember- "Just outta interest, d'ya believe in supernatural stuff?" He wasn't even sure that's what the humans called it, the existance of demons and magic and everything.
Shura was ready to retort to the insult but paused at the other's question. "Its all nonsense," the goatling said evenly, he always thought things in a logical point of view.
Another moment of silence; was Shura actually taking time to consider his questions? Perhaps there was still an opportunity to catch him off guard... although Rinku was not so hopeful.
"Thought so. You're so close-minded." He'd learnt that word from Suzuki.
"Everything can be explained logically. You're just an idiot," Shura explained with a grin.
"Alright then..." Oh, how he wanted to say 'explain demons in a human school,' but alas something like that would need to wait until a later time. "How about the kids disappearing from the school? You think they all just got expelled?"
"I assume they were too stupid for classes. You're most likely will be next...in fact I will suggest to my father," Shura shrugged.
"You think i don't have my own money? I can pay to stay in this school too." Not in all history, had there been a greater lie, "Besides...will your father be happy with you fighting? Maybe...he'll take your precious Pony away." Rinku leaned forward, smirking misciviously at the child before him. Damn, now he'd have to convince Shura *not* to talk to his father.
Surely the others wouldn't take lightly on him being expelled, although it was amazing the others hadn't faced the same fate yet.
Shura frowned, he had not told his father about fighting but he would not be surprised if Yomi already knew...but he couldn't take that chance and have his precious pony taken away! "No, he won't. I can do anything I want to," he said but his tone had lost some of its confidence.
"Sure? I mean, it'd look back on the Principal if his own son got into trouble." It wasn't very noticable but Rinku had picked it up, Koujou was beginning to sound unsure of himself. If he kept pushing this, hopefully it would scare him into not telling his "father." Unfortunately he doubted the odds of the stupid brat actually admitting his heritage.
"That would mean my father would even find out so unless you want to get kicked out, you better learn to keep your month shut!" Shura stated quickly, thinking fast.
"Relax. I won't say anthing...geez.." Really, now he was just getting annoying. "You better run home brat, before the monsters come and kidnap you from the night." Rinku paused, considering whether he should mention the other world or not. Well, if Koujou was a demon, it would give him an excuse to fight him, if he wasn't he would simply think Rinku was childish. "Of course, somone as mature as you, you don't believe in demons d'ya?"
Shura froze when Rinku mentioned demons. Did the other know...this was bad, and he would be in so much trouble, his pony taken away...."I am hardly scared of monsters and I don't believe in something as stupid as demons. They arn't real, idiot!"
"Oooh...don't say that! Ya might offend them!" Rinku grinned, leaning forward to stick his tongue out at Shura. For a second there, and no longer, he was sure he had seen his rival panic. Yes..positive..
"There is no such things as demons," Shura said slowly as Rinku was an idiot.
"Okay then.." Rinku waved his hand in a dismissive manner, turning his back on Shura in the implication of leaving him. "Just don't come cryin' when they've taken your lunch money.....idiot."
"You're tiresome," Shura rolled his eyes and turned away as well, still uneasy but he hoped Rinku didn't know the truth.
"And you're stupid. Oh well... let me know when ya remember your name, kay?" And with a final wave Rinku began to make his way back to the temple, with yet another day ruined by that annoying child.
Shura frowned but he would not let the other get away with this. He picked up a good sized rock with his hand, turned around and threw the rock hard at the back of Rinku's head.
If Rinku had been human, and inexperienced in the way of large objects colliding with his head, that would have certainly knocked him out.
And hurt. Which it did anyway, but not a point where he was rendered unconscious. Instead, it only succeeded in raising his irritation levels-dramatically. The young child demon spun around, glowering at Shura as he darted towards him, thrusting his fist forward as he did so.
Shura wasn't expecting the attack but still moved a bit out of the way but Rinku's fist still hit the side of his face. But the young demon attacked right back with a punch of his own, not willing to back down.
Of course by this time they had earned themselves a few onlookers, some who were disgusted at whoever's children they were, and others unsure of whether to step in or keep walking.
In the position Rinku's attack had left him in, he was unable to defend himself from Shura's counter-attack, feeling the full force of the punch in his shoulder.
The mere force knocked him off his feet, the cement scraping his hands as he collided with the footpath. "Heh..hehe...that was pretty strong. Are you sure you're not a monster yourself?" He had deliberately switched the word 'demon' for 'monster,' after all, if Koujou thought he was human then all the better.
"I am just better than you are," Shura retorted, but he had forgotten he was supposed to hold back when fighting.
"One punch and you say that? You're a cocky little brat, aren't you?" Rinku sneered, quickly clambering back to his feet and moving at a casual pace towards his opponent. It wasn't hard to notice the small crowd of bystanders, reminding Rinku that he wasn't meant to attract attention while in this world. Well, as long as it wasn't big enough to attract media attention like others had done, then it shouldn't be a problem.
Shura watched Rinku, making a note that he should try not to give away his strength but at the same time, he didn't want to lose to Rinku. "You ought to have the good sense just to give up now and run away while you can."
"Why? Or don't you want Daddy to see you fighting?" In clear mockery Rinku stepped back to scan the area, as if looking for the School Principal. "I hope he's watching, so he can see this!" And on that note Rinku jumped forward again, intending a kick to Shura's knee at the fastest humanly speed possible. The handicaps in this world were insane, but he would just have to deal with it for now.
Shura tried to dodge, nearly tripped and moved to the side to punch Rinku again, forgetting to hold back again in his attempt to win the fight.
The punch collided with his stomach and Rinku was sent flying back into the street, barely missing a collision with an oncoming car as his shoulders and back made contact with the sealed road. The said car hissed past him, as rubber burned and the driver swore, skidding the vehicle into the middle of the road to avoid him.
Once again, Rinku steadied himself to his feet, albeit a little more slowly this time, glared Shura. This was not fair, he could not fight in front of all these people. Quickly scanning the area again Rinku directed himself towards a back street that ran behind the shops. Either Koujou would follow him, and they could continue there, or the annoying brat would leave him alone and he could go home.
Shura ran after him, not willing to give up just like that. He made sure to avoid the cars in the street, hoping his father would not find out about this.
Perfect.
Rinku ran around behind the shops, glancing back over his shoulder to check that Shura was following. He waited until both of them were in the same strip before relying on his more trustworthy demon abilities. A seond longer and the child demon spun around to run towards Shura, covering a few metres and disappearing completely. He would use his inhumane agility to appear suddenly in front on his opponent, raising his leg and aiming a kick at Shura's side.
Shura was not expecting that so he stumbled back but he recovered fast, springing forward again and trying to remember not to put as much force into his punch as he swung at Rinku's head now.
Rinku jerked both hands up to shield his head, although the punch still managed to push him back. The demon cursed (something he had learnt from the ningen school) and reached for Shura's outstretched hand, taking hold of it and twisting it back.
"C'mon..Ya know foolin' anyone now."
"What are you talking about?" the young goatling asked, not ready to blow his cover yet. He growled as the other grabbed his arm, and he twisted around, trying to get away.
Deciding that it was better if Koujou admitted it himself, Rinku played it off as teasing. "Well we all know you're stupid. Really, trying to fight in front of everyone like that. I just saved your Pony.." As Shura struggled he only twisted harder, "You.owe.me."
"Your the stupid one!" Shura insisted, taking advantage of his position bringing up his knee hard towards Rinku's stomach.
Rinku quickly let go, clutching both hand to his stomach and wincing. "Why? I'm not the one who needs to bribe teachers to keep me in school."
"My father doesn't bribe the teachers!" Shura frowned, showing some of his childish temper.
"Really? I thought you said just before that he's paying for you to stay in school.." Rinku shrugged, trying to hold up a cool composure while still clutching at his stomach. "So you're too stupid to get the marks and do it yourself."
"I am not!" the goatling snapped back, refusing to back down. Annoying kid.
"Did i hit a nerve? Just hurry up and admit it already!" Shura may have won the physical fight, yes, but Rinku was confident the verbal one was his.
"Admit what? You are making no sense," Shura was not ready to admit being a demon, not unless he had no other choice.
"Lessee..You're paying to stay in school, and you sent me across the road with one punch. I dunno what is it...but you're hiding something. Admit it."
The goatling was silent for a moment, thinking of a good lie. "Your weak."
"I'm not. And that doesn't prove anything! It ain't possible to punch a baby that far even if you're some macho kid." It wasn't as if Rinku really needed proof, he was sure Koujou was a demon. There was no way a human could be that strong...and the brat wasn't doing a great job at hiding it either.Besides, Rinku knew Yomi was involved and acting as the Principal, so it'd make sense that someone apparently related to him would be part of it too-
Something clicked and Rinku froze, the throbbing pain in his stomach became no more than a distant prick as an almost certain realisation dawned. His auburn hues widened to the size of saucers, staring at Koujou-kun in disbelief. He couldn't be.. No, that wouldn't be fair.
Rinku knew he wouldn't be able to stand a chance if it was true but, if he acted convinced, maybe he could avoid it.
"You know what? Forget it. I'm going home."
Shura was confused by the other backing down suddenly but he took that as a sign that he won. "Next time I won't go easy on you!" the goatling taunted to Rinku's back.
"Whatever. You're a waste of time." Rinku turned and left as if Shura really was immature and childish, making his way out onto the crowded street where he was safe. Personally he didn't know what to think; whether to fear the demon or see it as a challenge, but one thing was sure, he would have to tell everyone else first.
Shura didn't run after Rinku this time, he was already in enough trouble no doubt with his father so he let the other run off...for now.
