((Happy Halloween...))

He had spent the afternoon in th temple's backyard, leaning against the wooden banister. A serene stare lost to the fiery evening spreading scarlet dragging the violaceous night upon the city. Ahead a myriad of lights scintillating like jewels, do far away ad distant.

His acute senses caught the sound of Kuronue returning, his finely masked youki was perceptible to him, so distinctive. Kurama turned back and approached to the kitchen, clad in the green yukata the temple had provided. Sharp emeralds swept through the bags and his partner. "I can tell you are up to something... but you do not mind hiding what it is," he greeted him with a soft grin.

[Real late! Greetings to you too and Happy Halloween.]

"Nnh." He answered with a non-commital noise, still putting away some of the food he'd bought into cabinets, onto shelves, and the fresher variety into the fridge.

The bat daemon already knew beforehand that Kurama would tease him mercilessly for this in the future but he had made some kind of a promise to cook him dinner. Whatever the fox wanted to eat... he would attempt to make.

Really though, he wasn't all that sure that what he was going to make would come out all right, but- Giving his 'guest' a quick, pointed look - he'd have help so it shouldn't turn out too bad ( ... )

His hands remained shoved in his pockets, casually standing next to the kitchen's door. It was clear Kuronue would not leave unless the kitsune wished it that way. Though serene emeralds grazed the demon's figure, that gentle yet implied mischief tugging at the corner of his lips as Kuronue approached with the paper bag. The kitsune's acute senses had perceived the scent of aburage. It was distinctive and unique, and it amused him how easily he had obtained a favor from his old partner. The attitude, the behavior, all remained the same. Even if ages had passed, so many aspects had changed but the essence was still the same.

"Thank you," Kurama replied simple, welcoming Kuronue's antics with his smile. "It is a shame you did not prepare it, would have been an amusing surprise to see you cooking.

However, you are invited to share it with me." Kuronue was right, teasing was a habit of his, but never something he would abuse of.

So they remained standing, facing each other, a silence pervading the room as Kurama continued to be…his self and Kuronue tried very hard to understand just what the fox was amused about. ‘Ttaku. Probably thinks I unable to cook or something…It’s not like I’ve never done it before…

“Anytime.” He finally stated, a light frown gracing his features, his eyes taking in the smile and fact that the gift was not taken. -And after all the trouble of finding it. The least his partner could do was take the bag and enjoy his gift. They couldn’t just stand here until the night was over. He still had to prepare the rest of it.

Kurama may have been amused by his actions, but Kuronue didn’t find it funny in the least. Maybe later he would. But not right at the moment. “I’ll have to decline that offer for now. If I do not start the rest of dinner, aburage is the only thing you’ll be eating tonight.” Kuronue huffed, and with that, he set his untaken gift on the counter, nearby the door, and went right back to where he’d set aside the ingredients for ( ... )
