“Takaki-kuun, you never come with us anywhere,” Yuto whines, shaking Takaki’s shoulder, jostling him into armrest of the couch in the rehearsal room. “Going to a ski resort for the day’ll be fun!”
Fun for those who have a clue as to what they are doing. Snow and water are two very different elements.
“My answer is still no.” Takaki shoots Yuto a look over the rim of his glasses as he lowers the magazine in his hands. “Besides you’ve already got Hikaru-kun and Inoo-kun going with you.”
“Chinen too.” Yuto smiles brightly as he refolds the Nozawa Onsen pamphlet and shoves it into his oversized, overstuffed bag. Chinen’s eyes lift from their place on his phone in question as an ignorant smile tugs at the corners of his mouth.
“That’s four people plus all your gear. Do you really think that’s wise, Yuto-kun?” Takaki’s eyebrow lifts in query.
“How about you come with us and play driver since you’re so worried?” Chinen smirks as he pockets his phone and throws himself into Takaki’s lap.
Takaki let out a heavy sigh as he wrinkled his nose. “Where did you say you were going again?”
The light in Yuto’s brown irises twinkle. “Nozawa Onsen, in Nagano.”
He really doesn’t want to go on this little trip of Yuto’s, he was looking forward to catching up on some sleep and TV this weekend. Maybe even go out drinking with Yabu for a change. Anything that will keep him warm and toasty the week after New Years. Then again, an onsen might be nice.
“Fine, I’ll go. But don’t expect me to leave the chalet.” Takaki huffs as he throws the magazine down onto the table and pushes Chinen out of his lap.
“Is that a challenge I hear, Yuya?” Chinen’s face brightens with mischief, making Takaki already regret his decision.

Yuto, Hikaru and Inoo hit the slopes the moment they arrived at the resort and unpacked the car. Leaving Takaki and Chinen to check in and wait for their rooms to be prepared. Not only had Yuto managed to weasel him into this trip, but managed to convince Takaki that spending the whole weekend would be even better.
Takaki has no idea how he’s going to survive this. It’s bad enough he’s got no idea how to ski or snowboard, but the other activities here seem to be minimal. He should’ve suggested Hikaru or Inoo drive the other vehicle.
“You seem pretty intense there, Yuya. Thinking about the others getting caught in an avalanche and getting devoured by sharks?” Chinen asks, appearing from behind Takaki with two cups of coffee in his hands while unintentionally spooking his friend.
Takaki almost cracks a smile at the sheer ridiculousness of the scenario.
“Seriously though, why are you moping on vacation?” Chinen settles into the armchair beside his friend while taking a sip from his steaming coffee. “If you really wanted to hang out back home, y’know, you could’ve told Yuto no.”
Takaki shrugs, sinking further into the upholstered couch as he takes a sip from his coffee. “I don’t mind playing chauffeur as long as you guys are safe. It’s just…”
“Just…?”
“Aren’t you worried someone will recognize us?” It is a risk the all ran whenever they left the house, more often it’s a risk they were willing to take for a little socializing and some fresh air.
Chinen rolls his eyes. “Yuya, try that again. What are you actually concerned about?”
Takaki exhales as he takes his eyes off the vast ceiling only to point them down into his black cup, “It’s okay for one day, but what am I going to do for two? Winter sports aren’t my forte.”
A smile cracks on Chinen’s lips as he pushes himself from the armchair. Leaning over Yuya’s bent over body, he touches a kiss to the top of his friend’s head. “Bakaki, don’t you think we know that? I told the others I’d keep an eye on you, take you skating or something.”
Takaki blinks. “Really?”
“Yes, really.” Chinen shakes his head, catching sight of the resort attendant coming their way. Takaki can’t help smiling as he picks up his duffel bag along with Hikaru and Yuto’s as they follow the attendant down the hall to the furthest rooms at the back of the hotel.
“It’s a miracle Yuto wore you down,” Chinen says, dumping their bags in one room before heading back to the front desk. “So, we’re going out to rent some skates and have lots of fun before the others come in for dinner, sound good?”
“Yeah, sounds good. Thanks, Chii,” Takaki says, that smile still digging into his cheeks.
Chinen shrugs, “What’re friends for?”
