Should I Care?

Sep 11, 2010 19:57

People around me including my family keep telling me to act my age...should I even get offended by this?
I don't feel anything at the moment. But, seriously, should I? It's not like it's the first time I've been told that...
My brothers seems to even think of me as a guy more than a girl...I'm getting confused...

I don't think that you have to care about that , I mean why they're saying that ?
Because of what ?

I'm 22 and I still love Winnie the Pooh and Goofy *v*
My dad thinks it's great I don't act like a cynical young adult, though mom thinks the same your famly does.
I've never really cared what others think about it, since it ME. So you shouldn't bother, they can't tell you how to behave since it's your life afterall^^

And siblings often don't think of each other as female or male... They're kinda always family. Though cousins do behave according to the gender xD

Nothing to worry about. misakiusui89 September 11 2010, 15:15:41 UTC
I deal with the same thing. I'm 21, and my parents have said the same thing. Actually, much worse, I've been told it's useless junk. Which really hurt, but made me more determinded to never grow up. XD

The kid's in my family, no matter how much I try, don't have the attitude to really get into anime/manga, or even good video games, they would still rather play Mario instead of Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy.

And no need to worry about being thought of as a boy either. lol. It just means you're a balanced person. I'm the same way and I've been called a guy by many people, not always family. I've been know to go out and play Soccer with a group of guys, and also to put my hair up and make-up on. I'm not a tom boy, but I'm not a girly-girl either. I'm in the middle. :D

That's no problem~ tanakaaiko September 15 2010, 23:03:43 UTC
Even if people say you're immature, you can't change yourself for them, that's not going to make you happy, right? You just have to be yourself, since it's you who knows yourself best!
Being a boy or a girl - it's not something to think about, either [well, that's what I think] because I was also mistaken for a boy too... or if not, they call me a tomboy, so don't worry about it... it's normal~ :)
Just be yourself and don't let others bother your personality... Until the time comes when you think changes are necessary already.

I can sadly relate... marigadi September 19 2010, 09:16:19 UTC
It's sometimes hurt my feelings when people, especially my mom, tell me to start growing up but like what most of the guys said here, they can't expect us to change when they want us too. They're probably just worried that you're gonna be eaten alive when they kick you over to the world of adults so they want you to act more mature.

I guess you shouldn't be offended when the reason they tell you that is... er... reasonable but when it's not (like, they're just saying it to insult you) then I guess that's the time you should get angry and beat 'em up senseless!
