To be blunt, I have to say that having seen your house I suspect a bit of a blitz would do it good. ¬.¬ Though the same could be said of mine right now...
And not sleeping in clothes is good, but being able to find them next morning is dead useful. I have a special clean-laundry heap for the days when they didn't make it as far as the drawers, which I find helps.
Have you come across Flylady? She has a lot of good advice about setting up routines to get things tidy and then keep them that way, and she includes things like getting dressed in the mornings, too. She gets a bit twee, but you're probably more able to cope with that than most people I know.
I have come across her, and you're half right - I cope better than most people with many kinds of twee, but that is emphatically not one of them! But what someone says is more important than how they say it :) so will look again, thank you.
And it doesn't matter if I 'stick to' laying out my clothes the night before, that's old-me thinking - if I do it occasionally that's better than never.
