[Arashi Fanfic] Blue - Chapter 6

Jan 21, 2009 10:18

It has been a while, and I think I'm losing my touch. *sighs* Sorry about the very, very slow updates. I'm not exactly a writer. ^^;

A/N: Hikari belongs to Hikari. I'm only borrowing her. And much thanks to Hikari for ... well, everything. You rock, girl.

"Sho…"

"No."

"But-"

"I said, no!"

"Why are you being so unreasonable? It's not like-"

"No, Hikari! You are not going anywhere outside this room, and out of my sight."

"You're unbelievable, Sho Sakurai! I'm your freaking wife, not your three year old kid!"

"Stop acting-"

"Maa maa maa, ochitsuite ne, Sho-chan," Aiba interrupted the shouting pair, as Hikari sulked in a corner out of frustration. Another screaming match between Sho and Hikari was the last thing all of them- the rest of Arashi, Johnny and Kytana-needed. The current atmosphere inside the meeting room, which has become a strange sort of second home to all eight since the Johnnys shop explosion, was tense enough without another fight flaring up between the married couple. The last screaming match between the pair was over two hours long, and ended up with Hikari and Sho not talking to each other for the rest of the day. When and how they made up, the rest didn't know, and didn't want to know.

Remembering what happened the day before, Aiba sighed. Sure, he understood why Sho didn't want to let Hikari out of his sight, but it was hard not to admit that his best friend was overacting a bit. If Sho had his way, he'd be in the bathroom with Hikari every time nature called. In a way Aiba understood why Sho was acting in this way; if Yuuki was the target, and not Hikari, Aiba would probably be just as worried. But to not let her out of his sight at all times… it was a bit too much for anyone to bear, let alone a freedom-loving twenty year old Canadian girl.

"Ne, Sho-chan," Aiba started, when Sho had calmed down a little, "It's not such a bad idea."

Sho gave him a look that said, of course it's not. It's all for her own good.

"Not that. The going outside this meeting room and walking around the building part. Hikari's idea."

This time, Aiba got a glare that shut him up.

"Demo Sakurai, Aiba's got a point. You can't lock Hikari up in here forever." It was Jun who spoke this time. "You're acting like an overprotective father."

"He'll probably end up being one." Nino muttered, without glancing up from his DS.

Sho glared at all of them, but elicited no response.

"Come on, Sho, at least let me get out of this room…" Hikari pleaded, and Sho's expression softened just a little. "Please. With all the security around, nothing's going to happen."

"Just let the girl get out of the room for a while and let us keep our sanity, Keio boy." Nino piped up. "There's only so much we can take of your screaming matches, ne, Leader?"

Ohno merely nodded his answer. Sho's determination to keep Hikari within sight was clearly wavering, as he considered her suggestion.

"Fine." Sho relented, as Hikari gave a small squeal of victory. "But you are not to go outside the building.  And I want someone with you at all times."

Hikari was all smiles. She gave Sho a quick peck on the cheek before dashing out the meeting room door, before the rest of the guys digested Sho's words. Silence ensued momentarily, as Sho's temper began to rise again.

"I said," Sho growled, in a low but threatening voice, "I want someone with her at all times."

Jun pretended to be busy with Kytana, as the Ohmiya pair disappeared into a corner. Sho's red eyes turned to Aiba, causing the younger man to tremble slightly.

"I…I'll go keep Hikari-chan company." Aiba said, terrified, as he made a quick exit out of the meeting room, and out of Sho's wrath.

"Sho-chan kowai…" Aiba muttered, as he caught up with Hikari. A flicker of laughter appeared in her eyes, before frustration took over again, as memory of her husband's autocracy resurfaced.

"He's beyond annoying, he's being unreasonable." Hikari replied. "Sho's totally overreacting. It's not like I can't take care of myself. I've been managing well enough in Canada without him."

But your life wasn't under threat. Aiba thought. "Sho-chan's just worried about you."

Hikari made no reply, as she walked into an office area.

"Ne, Hikki-chan…daijoubu?" Aiba asked, as Hikari settled into an empty armchair in one of the unoccupied office cubicles.

Hikari said nothing, as she spun around in the chair, her eyes downcast. Seeing this, Aiba sighed, as he leaned on the table in front.

"I… I don't know." It was a while before Hikari spoke, as she stopped spinning. "I just don't get it."

"Get…what?"

"All of it. All of this." Hikari replied, frustration evident in her voice. "The letter, the phone calls, the emails, and now the explosion. What kind of freak would do all this? Why? And for what?"

Aiba didn't answer, nor did he know how to answer her question. Hikari sighed, and went back to her spinning.

"Aiba-chan," Hikari started, with unusual worry in her voice. "Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why me? Why Sho? Why Arashi? Why would anyone be after us?"

"I…don't know, Hikki-chan." Aiba couldn't come up with any other reply. "I don't know."

===================================================================

In her hotel room, Yuuki looked at her phone for the nth time that day, as she continued to pack away all her belongings neatly into her suitcase. It was a week since she last spoke to Aiba, a week since the explosion, a week since anyone related to Arashi and Johnnys Jimusho contacted her. She had delayed her stay for a week, partly because she wanted to see Aiba again, but mainly due to the offer of a second interview for a job in Tokyo. A week ago, she would've jumped at the opportunity to work in Japan: the prospect of living in the same city as Aiba was the main reason for applying. But now, Yuuki wasn't so sure anymore. With the Johnnys Shop destroyed, Arashi and Hikari being targeted, and not even a message from Aiba for a week…  Yuuki could bear so much, alone. And if Hikari's presence was enough to make Aiba forget about her, then there was really no point in staying in Japan, and giving up a life she has gotten used to.

Sighing, she placed another stack of clothes into her small suitcase, carefully organising the space with gentle fingers. Her white mobile phone remained quiet, much to her disappointment. Unable to resist, she picked it up, flicked it open, and started going through her contact list.

Aiba… Hisako… Nino… Oh-chan… Tomo-kun.

Her finger stopped. Yuuki's eyes lingered on the name, as waves of guilt washed over. She promised she would stay in touch with Nino, Ohno, and in particular, Tomo-kun; but she failed. She failed completely, to the extent of not even so much as messaging them whenever she was in Japan. She had only one reason, and that reason was… Johnny Kitagawa.

Of course, Johnny never explicitly forbade Yuuki from contacting any of his artistes; he merely made sure that Yuuki knew every rumour about them-only every "scandal" the Jimusho refused to comment on. That was reason enough for Yuuki to be extremely careful, to make sure that no unnecessary person knew unnecessary information about her whereabouts, and so on. Her mother, she could never keep secrets from; as for her father, Yuuki kept him informed, sufficient enough to satiate his curiosity. But if her parents were to ever find their daughter caught in a scandal involving more than one Japanese celebrity… the thought alone was enough to convince Yuuki that it would be best to keep her distance from the boys, unfair it was to them. She believed that they would, in some way, understand her selfishness. But, her selfish act nagged her mind, and the disappointment in herself pained her heart. They had all done so much for her, during their early days of friendship, yet she was acting like an ungrateful child. It may have been what logic considered to be best, but her conscience protested persistently. Unable to fight her conscience any longer, she gave in and did what conscience wanted to do. With determination, she pressed the small green icon, and called someone she should have called long ago. Someone who had done so much, and sacrificed so much for her.

"Moshi moshi?" A male voice answered, rather sleepily.

"Tomo-kun?" Yuuki replied, with quiet hesitation. The person on the other end made no reply. "Moshi moshi?"

Silence.

"Gomen, have I called the wrong number? Sumimasen-"

"Yu… Yuuki?"

As usual, comments are <3.
