"When CS is metabolized, cyanide can be detected in human tissue.[36] According to the United States Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine, CS emits "very toxic fumes" when heated to decomposition, and at specified concentrations CS gas is an immediate danger to life and health. They also state that those exposed to CS gas should seek medical attention immediately.[2]"
The worst part is when sometimes the mask doesn't filter all of the gas out, or some other factors cause some gas to seep into the mask and make you breathe it. Then you have to continually bear with a growing burning sensation down your throat for the whole duration that you're in the chamber. Man that was sure an experience of a lifetime :p.
Yup I got that during the sispec gas training - my whole detail fell out for that before we were told it was normal and had to redo. Makes me wonder what happens if it were a real chemical agent.
Lol. I was wondering if it was normal too during my chemical defence in my medic course (don't ask me why medics need to go through that), but since I thought it was not really something I couldn't take, I just went with it. I was on the verge of choking a few times though...
As for the real chemical agent thing... well apparently the suit used in the actual thing is different (maybe more gas-proof or something?) and the mask is of a different variation. Not to mention our canisters will confirm be brand new :p.
Hee hee. *Seconds that* Lol I was barred from doing the CS immersion because of childhood asthma. Then we were allowed to sweep the room post-exercise. Choked before going into the (already ventilated somewhat) room, and then my nose started running and sneezing. Not very pleasant :)
