Once again, upon observing people in the world, I've noticed how much people want to become something. At the Honors Volunteer Program, a guy showed up there because he wanted to do volunteer work to beef up his resume. And...rant time ( Read more... )

i think you are on the right track, although maybe saying you suck is a little strong. i have the same feeling about the honors program as you do, there are people in it who like to hang out and talk about nothing just to prove how much they know, and they can end up in your classes too. however, it was my experience that most people in the honors program are secretly rolling their eyes and thinking "here they go..again!" if you can, i would encourage you to stick with it stephen, i found some really good friends through some of my classes, and in the case of fairy tales, our group meshed so well that we would all hang out together the half hour before class started. however, in college, most of my really close friends came from first, the dorm, and secondly, from catholic campus ministry (i also found that i really connected more in honors classes with my friends who were religious, catholic or not, and a lot of that was fostered by having multiple classes with them). so if you are finding that most of your close friends come ( ... )

For me the honors program does a few good things: a) I get to live in Threlkeld and I've made a ton of good friend there. In high school my friends were come and go. I didn't really have any really strong bonds. I do talk with some of my high school friends now, but it's not like we were BFFs. b) I get to take really interesting classes like Fairy Tales next semester. I'm so excited about that one. c) It makes my parents happy ( ... )
