This sounds horrible - it's amazing the hoops that the establishment makes people jump through. I hope you get it sorted; it does sound as if you have had one victory (stupid that it had to be a battle at all though) so maybe it's a good omen for getting the food stamps again.
Well, it is a bit better than the UK system. Here they are required to help you! In the UK the policy was to withhold information on welfare benefits you were entitled to, because a benefit not taken by someone who needed it, was one saved.
The main problem was the Doc who ignored 7 days of faxes to the surgery to give the insurance company more information - and at that point he could have added it was an existing prescription for me, but he didn't. I didn't really like him as I had problems understanding his mixture of mumble and thick Indian (Asian) accent, and the fact he ignored anything I said. He had me down as having pelvic pain for the damned bladder infection I originally went to him about after ending up in the ER with it in agony.
I'm glad you have health care, but you should not have to go to such lengths to get the medication you need. And the food stamps element... Bah. Sympathy.
