when i met my husband he was living in an efficiency apartment that had two rooms, one of those rooms was an incredibly dirty bathroom. his bed was a camp cot that barely fit him on it. that was his only piece of furniture. his 'unit' was appended to a house owned by crack heads who would regularly attempt to shake him down for "extra rent" money and there was a brown recluse infestation.

despite this, perhaps because of it (i'm a romantic so its a mixed bag y'know), some of my happiest memories of sleeping with him are of us falling asleep literally in each other's arms because that was the only way to fit two people on that bed.

when you love someone, when you are attracted to them, you often let things that might normally turn you off or might normally be unacceptable, slide. its true when i met him his living situation was both abnormal and discouraging, but it wasnt forever and it didnt define him.

linger,
bodhisattva.
