Reasons Why Fate Is A Silly Concept:

  1. Free will is an intrinsic component of the human psyche.
  2. The idea of the universe (or a higher power) taking care of ones' needs and acting as a guiding force removes accountablilty and motivation in everyday life.
  3. Fate would have to be infallible and nothing is infallible.

Au contraire. I have far too little time on my hands in order to pursue such thoughts as these fully.

But I suppose to those with the mental capacity of a flobberworm everything beyond eating and sleeping is a waste of time.

Leave the pursuit of knowledge and the understanding of the self to those of us who can contemplate such things without hurting ourselves.

I've always thought that there were many different paths we could go down, each with a predestined outcome. And we get to choose which path we walk.

Well, there are many paths we can choose but each of those paths has many branches. Those branaches have other branches, so on and so forth. The possibilities are infinite and to me infinite possibilities are the basis of free will -- so in a sense we are both right.
