I've been seeing a lot of hawks, too. More than I ever have. I don't know if I am just noticing them more, or if there is actually an abundance.

In the parking lot at work, I had one circling as I went to the back door. It floated over me, we made eye contact, meanwhile I was chanting, "Please don't swoop at me." I doubt it would, but if it did, I would certainly be a bit afraid for my face bits. Very cool to see, though.

Glad you like The League of Extraordinary Gentleman. I liked From Hell and Lost Girls a lot. I have yet to read the League books, though I know I will like them. I've seen the lackluster movie and liked the idea behind it. I assume this will shine in the books.

This anti-TV book sounds interesting. I remember reading Alexandre Dumas' The Three Musketeers where the characters could just look at people and know, absolutely and for sure, if they were lying, where they were from, and loads of other traits. I thought, "Could people really tell this much about someone just by looking at them back then ( ... )

I found that chapters on the mediation and colonization of experience to be the most interesting in the book, perhaps because those were the two not focusing solely on the medium itself.

I've liked all of the League... that I've read so far. The first volume was by far my favorite, though. There's something about the origins of a group or movement that make it so much more interesting. Plus, Alan Moore's short story at the end is very nice.
