molar woes.

Mar 04, 2004 02:09

for the past few days (or maybe more...), i've had this dull ache in my lower left jaw. at first i thought it was because i was unconsciously clenching my jaw, but when i opened my mouth to stretch the jaw, the pain didn't improve. this evening i realized that it is probably my molar, and not my jaw. looking in the mirror, that molar doesn't ( Read more... )

Day late and a dollar short!

The term shit goes back at least to the 16th century, so a bit early for the S.H.I.T. story to be the real cause. I think it is older than that, but don't have any earlier material on hand :) That and although I have studied 16th and 17th C global trade and economics, I have never once heard of manure being shipped long distances. Short distances, sure, but for long distances it seems quite a waste, it's not a very marketable product and they'd always take the maximum profit items per square foot. Let's face it, there's not really any places in the world with stable agriculture (as in planting crops) that can't make their own manure fairly easily. Even for the colonies they did transport livestock which would have made plenty just on the journey over ;) No need to package it up and bring more! :)

yeah, that whole tale was rather dubious... i'm pretty sure my mom knew it was a joke, though you never know...

ooooh... tooth problems are no good. Probably too late to help with this situation, but hypnosis could almost certainly help with your tooth grinding, if you're interested.

i am interested! i'm a lifelong case of grinding, though... do you really think it would help? it has caused all kinds of other problems in the past, including serious TMJ issues. upon further inspection of this tooth, i think i may just have a cavity, but the grinding prolly doesn't help...

Seriously, I am 99.9% sure it would help. It's exactly the kind of thing hypnosis is really good for. It's just a matter of finding a decent hypnotist... Of course, the best hypnosis is self-hypnosis, and I have a feeling you'd take well to that, but it's a difficult way to start out.

hmm. wish I were there.

it sucks that we're going to miss each other when i'm back in the states. i was looking forward to going to apsara's with you guys. :(

i have a friend here who does hypnosis, maybe i'll give him a try. (he has a very hypnotic voice, too.)

I'm surprised you didn't get a mouthpiece for night-time. My ex-girlfriend, who grinds her teeth at night, got it so she wouldn't grind away her molars and further unbalance her jaw.

Yeah, it's kind of gross, but for my ex it was worth it. She was getting migraines sometimes when she didn't use it.

really? the mouthguard doesn't prevent the actual grinding, though, i thought just protected your teeth...?

i've never had migraines, but i had some pretty serious jaw problems back in the day... blech.
