Zach, as far as I'm concerned, you can say anything you want to about any book by any person as long as you lump me in a category with Dostoevsky in the disclaimer. Heck, you can even say we're both dead Russian men. It's the name proximity we're going for here.

I liked Blue Like Jazz for much the same reasons you liked the first 50 pages. But I also understand your complaints. You've described a general tendency in Christian publishing: message can tend to matter more than story or art. The good news is there are quite a few artists trying to bust out of that mold ( ... )

Wow...I didn't know Mark Driscoll was The Cussing Pastor. Actually, I did not know that there even was a cussing pastor, as I have not read the book. But don't worry! You are not a hopeless pedantic, too English major-y for your own good. Despite and likely because of your less-than-positive review, I am motivated to read the book for myself. I can't resist a little self-concious pop-Christian reading every now and again.
