Excuses are easy, convenient, and believable; that's what makes them such wonderful crutches.

Don't even start thinking for a nanosecond that you have anything to do with causing their divorce. When it comes right down to it, the cause is plain and simple: They could not manage to put their ego aside, and try to compromise for the sake of each other and their relationship. There are dozens of reasons behind this, and I wouldn't presume to know enough to identify any particular ones, but I do know that you should not feel in any way responsible for your parents' actions. They are adults (even though they may be acting like children), and so are you; you cannot control their behavior or thoughts, and they should not try to control yours.

*hugs*

You have your own life to lead. While you may not like the idea, you cannot allow the immaturity of others to drag you down, even if they're your parents. Enjoy your mate, I'm sure he will be there to hold you. {=)

Such a thing is almost expected these days, and it's sad. You have my sympathies. It's hard not to feel like you're stuck in the middle in such situations, but try to keep in mind that it's just between them.
