So how was my day well it was pretty good. I had a test in Latin did I remember it right!! nope completely forgot so during the last 10 minuets of Lunch, B lunch of 3rd period on an A day and my latin class is 4th, I realized that i should prolly not be playing cards but should be doing the review...then right after that i decided I didn't havtime ( Read more... )

I not at yn a lot, but from what people said the problem is disrespect, tlaking while someone else is, or when someone else is tyring to get everyones attention so we can do something. I do not have a solution, OH and zack are we still going to the movies tomorrow?

you know what problems there are at yn. as for suggestions, i'm drawing a blank on that one. the only thing i know is that until they realize how rude they are being and how disrespectful they are when they interrupt or giggle at inappropriate times. i think they need to realize that they do not have to make some obscene joke or comment to get attention or be noticed or get friends at yn and everywhere else. from what i know, this generally shows a low self-esteem on the part of those who do this. they need to realize that they are loved--that everything that was said and that they felt at the retreat did not end with the retreat, but that that love is still there. they are still accepted. no more masks and charades need to be put on. this is an enviroment where you can be yourself in a christian enviroment, just among your peers and fellow catholics. it is hard to remember that in today's society-but that is what i feel needs to be done.

i was gonna say that the way to fix it, well the disrespect is to get them to go up there and try to put on a whole youth night and then see everyone disrespecting them, but that's mean, but it's true. and the rest of the problems we've tried fixing, we've addressed them and everything, but it didn't work, i don't have any ideas for that so that's my two cents.

actually thats a really good idea, kathy. i had a teacher once who did that to a particular student who was very disrespectful and rude. after the teacher had this student plan, put together, and present a whole lessen for one whole class period, that student was considerabley more respectful to the teacher for the rest of the year (for the most part anyway). however, this was only done as a last resort because everything else had failed. you're right in that it would be mean to do it, but sometimes kids need tough love.

well i pretty much agree w/ the whole problem, it's pretty obvious (although in all honesty i really didn't see it QUITE as much at the last yn as b4, but i was tired so idk). However, here's a different idea for how to fix it ( ... )

but i do agree with you in that the apostle team people should try to help quiet thigns down if they're not in charge of that particular youth night. and one of my best teachers ever told us how when they are in training to be teachers, they are taught never to yell at the students. so its worth a shot.

about the whole respect thing...you need to show respect to get respect. respect is earned not freely given in todays society....so for disrespect of leaders to stop the disrespect of the youth needs to stop. also to get respect you need to show power.beth gets respect (for the most part) because she gives it and she commands respect....she expects them to respect her and everyone knows it. i dont get that vibe from the appostle team ( ... )
