Chapter 2 The Emissary

Junsu sailed of on his rubias- a flying vehicle popular on their country. He cannot let Changmin die, especially not now that they had come to admit how they feel for each other. Amihan’s border is only a day and a half of flying away, he needs to talk with the provincial officials to acquire a visa and be able to stay inside. If things go well he can be in the Emperor’s palace in three days. He really hopes so, time is what he doesn’t have and thinking of how Changmin suffers from the pain makes him more unsettled. He reached the border gates at dusk.

“State your name, country and purpose please.” The guards told him.

“Xiah Junsu, Habagat. I’m an emissary from the King of Habagat, we would like to request an audience with Amihan’s emperor and high mage.” Junsu replied.

“Please proceed to the eastern area, you can fill up the requirements for a visa and process all the papers you need to finish for your purpose.”

“Thank you.” He did what he was told and filled up the forms.

“Thank you for filling these up, about your request, we need to have proof of your identity and after that you can talk to our Minister of External Affairs and let him judge if he could grant you an appointment with our Highness.”

“I understand.” He produced his identity certificates from Habagat and the seal that Yunho gave him.

“We’ll certify the authenticity of this and we’ll call you about your schedule with the minister if we do not have any questions for you. Please take a rest first one of our guest houses. Travelling from Habagat must have tired you.”

“Thank you.” He bowed at the woman at the counter and let himself be led to the guest house.

“We hope that you’ll be comfortable here.” The guard told him before disappearing.

After he was left alone he took a look around, the settings of the room is very different from theirs. The equipments are modern yet the main design remains traditional. It makes visitors feel the culture by just staying in the room. It saddened him a bit, their country used to have this amount of culture too before King Gavin- Yunho’s grandfather was assassinated and the royal family of Jung was thrown out. The tyrant burned everything to erase the legacy of the Jungs all the painting, woodwork, sculptures, scriptures were eradicated. Even the national anthem was changed. ‘Yunho’s working hard to bring everything back to normal. He’s succeeding. Just 3 years more and we’ll be stable.’

He lay in bed and let exhaustion drag him to sleep with hope of their wish to be granted burning in his heart.

>>> At the Minister of External Affair’s Office

“Are they authentic?” KangIn asked his wife. It surprised him that Habagat suddenly made contact with them. As far as history goes their last contact with their neighboring country was at the time of King Gavin when the late king generously helped them out with preventing an epidemic that affected both countries. When King Gavin died all diplomatic ties were cut.

“Yes they are. I’ve never seen this kind of seal in a long time. The last one I saw was during my time at our emperor’s vault. It’s really amazing.” Habagat’s royal family uses a metal that can only be found in their country and the craftsmanship never fails to amaze her. Too bad all the artworks were eradicated by the former tyrant. “This must be one of the few surviving artifacts that the royal family had saved when they escaped to Asures.”

“If that’s the case why do you think they sent an emissary here? They want audience not only with the emperor but also Jaejoong.”

“With Jaejoong too? His Highness easily grants audience but the high mage- I’ve never seen him in public other than the times he appeared with our emperor.”

“That’s why I’m having second thoughts about this visit. Our emperor would sure like to meet someone from Habagat. They were a friend a long time ago, and I’m sure His Highness would like to rekindle a good friendship with them. But Jaejoong, he’s the hardest person to meet in this kingdom!”

“Why don’t you let them meet up with Emperor Yoochun, but don’t tell Jaejoong?”

“Good idea! My wife is really the smartest!” KangIn kissed his wife before heading to the office and sending an approval.

>>> At the emperor’s private quarters.

“Aish, my head hurts~” Yoochun whined. “Wait I take that back, my whole body hurts!” He tried to get more comfortable in the couch but the pain won’t go away.

“That’s what you get from trying to beat up KangIn and Hodong at drinking, what were you thinking? Of course you’ll suffer you lightweight!” Jaejoong scolded.

“I won against Hwangbo and JunJin, who would have thought those chubbiness can take in more that the fierce generals!” Yoochun defended himself, JunJin and hwangbo are known for their drinkfests, but why the hell no one knew about KangIn and Hodong.

“One: Hodong is also a general-”

“He looks cuddly not fierce!” Yoochun interrupted.

“Two: see body mass? Those two can of course take in more. They have more space.” Jaejoong emphasized his point by drawing KangIn and Hodong’s figures in the air respectively.

“Ha! Then why the hell we’re you still okay when all three of us were already dying out of puking all of out body fluids out.”

“I’m not a lightweight like you.”

“Ah~ my head! My back! Oh~ my neck too.”

“Aish!” Jaejoong lifted his hand and summoned his elemental spirit Heechul. “Please take his hangover away before I pull all my hair out.”

“As you wish master.” Heechul bowed and turned to Yoochun. “Oh and by the way, pulling all of your hair is not a good threat honey, you’ll look ugly if you’re bald~”
