Figured I'd start sharing my blog!

I told you guys I blog, but so far unless you follow me on Facebook you have nothing but my word counts to go by. :-) So, I will start sharing here, too. It's a mom-blog but usually they are more tech/geek related. This week happens to be a bit different but from the reaction I've gotten so far from a few friends, it's not unwelcome. :-) tech time, currentmom, blog, writing, motherhood

Yeah, I'm that mom who rarely, if ever bakes. I've done it, mind you, but in my hectic corner of the world, it's just not happening. I've come to terms with my Mommy guilt because I'm awesome in other ways.

And, yay for Supernatural! My son was interested in the scary early on so I can't say that I would have banned it at that age. Every child is different and there's no foolproof procedure for raising them. You just have to muddle through the best you can.

It's not just the baking for me, though that's what I mainly dealt with here. I got slapped around a bit by one commenter over there about it, but oh well. It's a new thing for me to get comments so I was just happy it got read and though about. lol

I have an issue overall with people who just don't COOK, period. Like schlepping themselves and their kids around to activities and shopping and etc. etc. is more important than what they fuel themselves with. Maybe in the future I'll take up the mantle, again, but my 'corner' of that forum really isn't supposed to be the place!

And yes - I was such a scaredy-cat when I was young that I wasn't really prepared for my daughter being able to deal with it. :-) But I'm certainly glad she is.

I don't cook. I'm terrible at it and if I did, we'd be eating omelettes every night or overcooked pasta. I think because you like to cook, you think it's fun. It's not. It's awful and I hate it. Plus our society thinks that moms should do the cooking. Why not dads?

That being said, I can make brownies from a box and have taken them to the school bake-sales. I even made trifle one time (which my kids liked and everyone else seemed to hate). But cooking, nope, not going to make my kids endure that kind of torment. In fact, last time I made dinner, my husband banned me from the kitchen forever.

LOL! Yeah, I will agree it's not mom who needs to know how to cook but yes, I think someone should in the family. It's a useful skill.
I think being in things like SCA and the like help to fuel my 'skills to survive the apocalypse' mentality. If I don't get eaten by zombies right away or something, I don't want to die for lack of gasoline to fuel my car (or power) or starve to death because I can't cook and/or don't know anything about growing/picking food.
It's silly perhaps, but it works for me.
