Why do you hide or suppress your emotions?

1. Depression often leads to a non-acknowledgement of emotions, not always, but it seems fairly common.
2. Personally, I find emotions very difficult to understand and therefore to deal with, so I instinctively suppress them to try and deal with them 'later'. I know this causes problems, but I cannot change who I am. Not saying more here, but do email me - use my lj address...
