With the way things are for the older generations in this country and their emphasis on seniority, it's still a common thing for a lot of older people to dislike being told what to do by someone younger than themselves. Especially if that someone younger still happens to be in high school. So she more than likely thinks it's demeaning and embarrassing to do whatever a "kid" tells her to. She's probably also jealous and believes she should've been left in charge instead of you. As for the eyebrows... Offer to pay for your coworker to get her eyebrows waxed into a friendlier-looking shape~?
