The truth is: I should be making more money than I am making right now. I bust my ass for my dad, I showed up after throwing up two days straight, and having a root canal and went to work. I work faster than the other guy who works with us. I get shit done. I clean up. I am nice to all the clients. I try to do everything that will make us money, ( Read more... )

why don't you leave your father's place and go work for someone else? who'll give you less personal BS and pay you better and you'll be earning what you're worth? i know sometimes people get roped into things because of personal obligation, but after a certain point i think you should be able to go, "hey fuck this, i need my OWN life!" and leave it. just think of it this way: if you make more money, you can get this "place to live that cannot be taken away from [you]". and that's a good goal to work towards, right? i understand how valuable that is from being moved around a lot when i was a kid, too... and i value it just as highly.

good luck to you.

reasons not to leave my dad's company: he demands (as much as I do) respect for me on the jobsite. he pays for my personal car to get fixed when need be. he pays for my school (so that I can get my electrician's license) and makes the work day fit that schedule. and... he's my dad and he's not going to be around that much longer I don't think and he's really only been proud of me for this (working with him) in the past few years. also... i don't think that another place would pay me more, and i don't think that at this time in my life (due to all the chaos) i am ready to start a new job, nor am i ready to deal with all the bullshit that comes along with guys who are uncomfortable or unfamiliar with girls on jobsites ( ... )
