I went to the Neue Gallery today and I was stunned by the PERFECTION that is "Adele Bloch-Bauer I" (it just sold for $135M, breaking the previous record by nearly $30M). It is my favorite painting. Shit I forgot to get Microsoft Office from Kate and it turns out my mother doesn't own a copy of XP so I'm sort of not happy.

What's that alternative program to Word that's free? And is there something that can do powerpoint like stuff?

My mother has worse separation anxiety than I do (duh, I suppose), which has lead her to panic about when I can get home and where my brother and I are at any given moment.
