I read the first two books to see what the hype was all about and couldn't force myself to read the third. They are bloody AWFUL. I freely admit that I have skimmed plot to get to the sexxy bits in a novel, but I have never before skimmed sexxy bits in the hopes of finding a plot. 0_o ( ... )

Don't read it. It's dreadful. It's basically published "Twilight" fan fiction. I don't know WHY it's gotten so much damn hype since, as you said, there are much better written smutty books out there but it's blown up enormously here in the states. Don't bother. Seriously.

50 Shades of Grey is horribly written Twilight fanfiction. FANFICTION. It's supposed to be edgy because it explores the BSDM world, but really, the main character is just an abusive asshole. For further reading on how you shouldn't touch the books with a 10 foot pole: Go here

If that's all it takes to make 1 million/week, I can publish some shit too.

I basically sign any of the other's opinions about 50sog. So I could "borrow" (you know... like "borrow") you the books if you want. I have them here as ebooks because I was curious. In my opinion it isn't worth the time to read but I found the first book mildly entertaining in the beginning. I don't know why people are so crazy about it. I guess it fills a void or something like that ( ... )
