In my experience, the power only goes out 4-5 times in a given winter, and is often restored within a couple of weeks. Midwesterners are good about pulling together, and we don't resort to cannibalism until literally hours have passed. Reports that white-furred wolves the size of horses have been known to smash through windows and haul people off are believed to be urban legends. Most families do keep a small shrine to the wendigo, and make sure to moisten it with blood every sunset, but I'm sure that's just overkill.
hahhaaha! i'm sorry to laugh but i totally understand. i've been in San Diego for 10 years and i cannot IMAGINE moving back to winter states. i'm a complete wuss when it gets to be 50 degrees. i cannot even imagine 50 below zero. ugh! my thoughts and prayers are with you!

I also like that your subject line is a reference to 2001...or 2010?
