This is pissing me off more than it should...

Background: FUM has a policy not to hire queer people. At all. Ever. If they find out you are queer, they fire you.

It's the official stance of that branch of Quakerism. Another branch that I'm more involved in doesn't have an official stance and is largely welcoming. But Quakerism is a small world, and it's not like we can ignore each other.

Never have I been made so aware that Quakerism in Britain and Quakerism outside Britain are not always the same thing. I knew there were differences between meetings within Britain, but they are not on this scale!

Quakers here were part of the push for equal marriage!

Different branches of Quakerism here are at different places. FGC is largely affirming; FUM is decidedly not. Unfortunately, my congregation belongs to both.
