The other day a coworker mentioned having a new boyfriend. Naturally, I asked about him so she said she was actually kind of worried. Why? Because's he's the first "nice guy" she's ever dated. I gave her a puzzled look. What's wrong with nice guys

Thats really silly. I could understand, "I'm worried because the last nice guy was just using me."
But I'm worried that he's NOT an ass is very strange indeed!

It's the difference between pulling over on a road trip and picking a hotel to stay at for the night which you can trash and let someone else clean up, and signing into a six month lease on an apartment you'll have to put a deposit on and take care of yourself.

I could understand her anxiety and deliberation. She might become comfortable, and comfort is a dangerous thing.
