I just want to say that maybe Indiana feels more like "home" because you have family there (your sis) and there was more grad support that you could fall back on. I think the only issue with Bloomington is that it is a college town, meant to have people going in and out, a revolving door of friendships and relationships. Not to mention going back to where a POC community or even presence is pretty low. I just got back to NJ today and it became instantly clear how different it is and how more comfortable it is - though at the same time I hate that the abundance of whiteness equates to safety (because you know the cops are looking out for them). *shrug* not sure where I was going with this. But I always suggest people coming to NJ, more so that they will be closer to me!

Oh, feh and sympathy. I'm sorry things are working out so badly. This is the sort of thing that makes me really, really wish we had teleportation, so there wasn't this obnoxious need to choose between people and places. Feh, I say.
