Letter to Alexis: An amazon and rainbow - a travel update

Alexis,

Sister I'm on my way home. Father said we have to talk. I hope Grandfather will share his secrets this visit. I have already had one strange encounter during my journey.

After Father's message arrived, I packed and began my journey through the forest to leave the Spire. In the old woods, so old that many call them haunted, I heard the creak of a bow and the sharp sound of arrows striking wood. There in a grotto was an amazon. Strong. Beautiful. Dangerous. I thought I had crept up quietly enough but found her next arrow aimed at me.

She saw the bow I carry and taunted me. I took aim but she would not move. Three arrows I fired and each arrow missed the mark. There was talk of a game but her game and mine were not the same. Then came a rainbow and she faded away with the brightening of the sun. I faded away into the shadow of the trees. I wonder if the rainbow was a good omen or a sad one. Perhaps when I return to the Spire, I will stumble upon her again. She is owed three arrows in kind.

Tell Father and Mother that I will be home soon. I only pause to hunt. The trek is helping to clear my mind and ease some confusion that plagues me. It will be good to return. Tell Roman I will expect to meet him by the Oak.
