Alexis and Roman,

It has been too long since I last sent a message home and then such was usually addressed to our mother and father.

Mother is well, as well as can be expected given how much she misses father but she now has a strength within her, one that she did not possess before. She has come back from the edge, from the ice and although it now fills her veins, she lives again.

Do you remember the tales grandfather used to tell? Of Weir touched by the ice, those who heard its call and felt its embrace? Mother is one of those, a true Icemane. Father would have been so proud, I know it.

Of father there is little to tell, he remains elusive. Faelin and I tracked him to a new wood, a strange wood. Such a place feels cursed to me and to her. We shall have to return there again, I fear, but not until we have made better preparations for such a journey. Whatever news reaches you of the things our father does now, remember that he was a good man. This shell, this thing that wears his skin and answers to his name is not our father.

If you wonder about me, know that I am well. My time with grandfather and the smiths of the Spire is beginning to bear fruit. I am hard at work on a gift for the Regent, something truly fitting and hopefully majestic. I also doubt my wisdom in forging armor for Faelin. The Huntress needs no extra advantage in being able to hide from me. I said as much and her own reply made my heart almost burst with joy and hope. I believe, more than ever, that one day, I will be able to call her my mate.

There is good news too regarding our sister, Arianne. She has returned to the Spire and our nieces are the most beautiful little girls in the world. Alexis, one day I shall bring Arianne to our village so that you may finally be able to meet her. She called upon me today to help her in the fight against the Black Road. I'm in a place called Pathi. It's a land of sorcerors and magicians. A strange place, one that I hope I do not stay long in.

Should I learn anything more about father, I will send word.

Zane
