Geez, this is so old, and I did not add, subtract or change anything from the version in my notebook. The version that, by the by, is dated July 30th. *sigh* I am so bad at getting things typed and posted.
Title: About a Lady
Series: none
Word Count: 168
Rating: PG
Disclaimer PostSummary: Sven has Behavioral Standards, and badmouthing a lady in his presence does not fall under them.
Notes: This is just a plotless bit of nothing that struck me one day. We know from canon that Train would pretty much walk through fire for Saya, although he'd likely have shot you for suggesting so while she was alive. And I was wondering what kind of impression that made on Sven.
Sven has never had the pleasure of meeting Saya Minatsuki in person. All he knows of her is what he’s learned from speaking to his partner (precious little, Train can be startlingly tight-lipped when he chooses) and from watching him (which tells so, so much more).
He knows she was kind and accepting and forgiving, because Train learned those traits from somewhere, and Sven’s money isn’t on Chronos for that. He knows she loved life and treasured freedom. He knows Train loved her, in his own way. It’s not much, but it’s enough to earn Sven’s respect.
That’s why he’s got some nameless thug pinned to the wall of this filthy bar for besmirching the honor of a woman he’s never met. Because he’s a gentleman, and because that woman gave Train the world, and that…that’s worth everything.
“As a gentleman,” Sven hisses through teeth uncharacteristically clenched with anger, “as a gentleman, my friend, I think you should shut your fucking mouth about people you don’t even know.”
