Wabisuke watched carefully through Izuru’s eyes. He didn’t want to take a chance that Izuru might need him and he might not be ready. But at the same time, he didn’t want to be a burden or an imposition if his shinigami didn’t want him. It was a balancing act, but he was used to it now. He could be omnipresent but hardly noticed.
[break]
He really didn’t help Izuru at all.
Wabisuke?
He couldn’t protect Izuru from Gin-from anyone, really.
Wabisuke! What-?
He couldn’t protect the ones Izuru cared about.
Stop that! Aren’t you listening? Can’t you hear me?
He’d completely failed at all his duties as a zanpakutou.
No! You haven’t! Wabisuke!
All he ever did was weigh his shinigami down.
Wabisuke, please. Don’t do this.
It would probably be better for him to discorporate, let Izuru manifest a zanpakutou that could actually help him.
You CAN’T! You’re the only thing that keeps me sane! I can’t do this without you!
But…he couldn’t. Wouldn’t. Ever. Izuru was his everything.
Please.
Even if he couldn’t reach out, couldn’t help.
Wabisuke…
Even if he was useless. He had to be here.
Izuru.
Please.
I’m sorry.
Please.
I’m sorry.
Don’t leave.
I’m sorry…
