Batman Beyond: Imagination

May 10, 2010 23:15

I love this series like fire burning, I really do. The way Terry and Bruce play off each other just rocks my socks off. That said, it's been a while since I communed with the source material, so I hope I haven't outright contradicted anything with this little bit of nothing. Fic index is here. And we'll have to get to the rest of the stuff I had planned tomorrow. I'm about to fall asleep at the keyboard.

Title: Imagination
Series: none
Word Count: 121
Rating: G
Disclaimer Post
Summary: Terry's dreams have always been a bit more down to earth.
Notes: Can I say again how much I love this show? Seriously, I need to write more Batman Beyond fic. I also need another fandom like I need a hole in the head, but who's counting?

Terry was an imaginative kid-wasn’t everyone, in their own way?-but he tended more towards what his mother referred to as a realistic sort of imaginative. He never pretended to fly, never dreamed of being a superhero. He never wanted to save the world.

He still doesn’t, now that he’s Batman. No need to pretend when a flick of his wrist and a subvocal command to the boot jets will launch him into the air. No need to fake being a superhero when the bone-breaking reality of it fills his every waking moment and fuels most of his nightmares. Most of all, though, Terry has no desire to save the entire world-just this one city will do, for now.
