Why do artsy people never have a sense of humor? Why does everything have to be so "deep" or "thoughtful" or "striking"? What's wrong with finding something funny because it is and then (OMG) actually laughing about it?

Because deep down they know they're just as shallow, unoriginal, and uninteresting as everyone else. Being obsessed with the "deep" or "thoughtful" or "striking" is pretty much just reaction formation.
