Deer in the pasture

I had a wonderful experience this morning. After milking the cats and feeding the birds, I was walking back to the garage when I noticed something moving in the upper pasture. We have put the boys down by the barn because they are getting way too fat on the grass in the upper pasture, so I knew it wasn't them. Anyway....I saw this movement and

i love chickadees! they are soooo cute! i don't get them here where i live,but,i do get to see them up in the mountains at my parents summer home. i have some jays who have nested nearby,and i'm waiting to see if a pair of hawks will once again nest in the cottonwwood trees nearby.

The chickadees also have the sweetest little chatter. They love to hang out in the one and only pine tree we have. When I walk out in the mornings it seems they almost greet me. *smile*

Because I have all these birds, there is a Merlin that likes to take advantage. I usually don't see it until later in the summer. And we also have red-tailed hawks that fly overhead. They don't like the closeness of the buildings where I feed the birds.

Forgot to say that the tree swallows are back again this year. They are in their usual place, in the hollow under the roof tiles on the edge of the garage roof. Pretty soon there are going to be baby birds all over the place! *Grin*
