Home sweet home!

Not really at home yet, we lot went to Ed's house (that's Edward Stebbins if you don't know who I'm talking about) and we're going to stay for a few days here. But it might as well be home, because it's not school! Nobody is bonkers, we can go wherever we want, and there are no teachers and no strangers, just Hufflepuffs. Well, Ed's older brothers ( Read more... )

So sorry for the faffing, Mister Smith. It sounds as if you'll enjoy your summer anyway. Congratulations to Hufflepuff.

Thank you, Professor!

At least somebody explained. I harbour no hard feelings.

I've heard. How does it feel to be the winner?

Well... Rather good, actually!

I expected so, though I am using the word in more than one context.

I did intend to leave, you know, but circumstances being what they are, I thought the time would be best spent researching the market for study aids as I have a captive student audience.

Wow! Now I wish I could've stayed to get ready for NEWTS too!

I could send you notes and--never mind.

And I have an aversion to certain sorts that are wandering free outside the castle walls.

I'm only half-joking, Ernie. I'm sure in a year I'll be regretting my words, especially when I see your buoyant study help business. Does being captive really make for good study conditions? I might've to try it.

I don't think it's really that bad, and I don't want to live in fear anyway.

Um, well, I decided to stay because I think it's better for my parents if I do. They used to think the castle wasn't safe, but ever since they started reading the Brocklehursts' copies of the Daily Prophet they've changed their minds. I don't know if the castle really is any safer, but I don't want them to worry. It's not as if they asked for this, you know?

Aren't they worried the security measures might be more of a danger to you? Megan's parents are muggles as well, and I don't know what they'd think of having a sodzilla on the grounds, and that's only one thing.

I think in fourth, fifth year, or even in December, I would've stayed. So I don't think the lot of you are daft for staying, really I don't.

They don't exactly know about the Sodzilla. That sort of thing doesn't turn up in the newspapers. But the stuff about the dementors and death eaters does. And since we're staying here voluntarily now, we can leave and go to the village if we want to. It's not so bad.

Well, I don't think you're daft for leaving. Um, be careful, though?

Ah, it's been ages since I read any newspaper, I'm much happier since. Of course stuff like the sodzilla wouldn't turn up, I should've expected that. Well, I'm not going to get worked up about it.

We're being the carefullest, true role models for people who haven't suffered auror Moody. Just joking. It's really very quiet here.

It's good to see that some people still remember how to have a good time.

Yes, it's been very fun so far. And getting the Cup is the acest thing ever.

How are you, by the way? Have you rejected any more marriage proposals?

Congratulations to Hufflepuff. I don't think I ever saw Hufflepuff get the cup while I was at school-- you're lucky to see it. How did your group do it when years of badgers before you couldn't?

Busy with work, as usual. And there haven't been more proposals, thank god, except one night when Roger thought it would be funny to pay a dozen people in a pub to come up to me at random intervals to get down on one knee for me. Life as usual, you know.

I didn't think I'd get to see it, at least. It's always Gryffindor and I'm told Slytherin won several times in a row before I went to school. And I've no idea! Maybe it's because we're so hard-working. And because most of us have loads of common sense.

He should've paid your drinks instead, really.
