She'd been at the school for a week and what a week it had been. She was first fitted for gauntlets that were supposed to regulate her ability which was awesome. And then it was testing to see where she'd be placed, gradewise. Then it was meet the staff and shopping to get some clothes and stuff for school. Professor Monroe had even been awesome

It was hot out. Hot as balls. Jesse was heading toward the pool where Josh and Jamie currently were. He was returning from getting the three of them sodas, and he was carrying a six-pack by the plastic... thing.

He paused at the entrance to the pool, pointing and laughing at Jamie being an ass, then let out an 'oof' as a small Asian ran into his chest. Jesse grinned down at her, shaking his head. "It's okay." He glanced her over quickly, spotting the gauntlets but not staring. Jesse looked back to her face, still grinning. "I'm Jesse. You new?"

Well, at least he was being nice. Some of the people around here, like some jackass named Julian Keller, had been nothing but rude to her since day one. Hell, since before then when she tried to get into the school a few months ago.

Ugh.

She noticed the once over, raising an eyebrow slightly. That was a first. At his question, she nodded her head once. A quick nod, something that was just how she did things.

"Noriko Ashida," she stated. It was likely she still had traces of her Japanese accent and this wouldn't go away for a good long while. Possibly never.

"I just started a week ago."

"Nice to meet you, Noriko Ashida." He was still grinning at her, and he shifted the soda from one hand to the other and extending a hand to her. He noted the accent, and thought it was pretty cool. She sounded like a kung fu movie.

"Want to come sit with us over there?" His friends were now attempting front flips into the pool. Jesse let out a loud laugh as Josh shoved Jamie off the cement apron before flipping himself into the pool. "C'mon, I'll introduce you to my friends." He looked at her outfit, realizing she was not dressed to swim. "D'you wanna go change first, so you can swim?"

Nori watched Jesse extend his hand, hesitating a moment before extending her own in more of a 'you sure you wanna do that?' gesture. It was up to Jesse.. This wasn't exactly covered when she got the damn gauntlets in the first place. From fingertip to a couple inches above her elbow, Nori's arms were covered in metal, gears, wires and meters.

She sort of felt like a bad extra in a Terminator movie. Giving the pool and the people in it a rather dejected look, Nori looked at Jesse.

"I can't." And she pouted.
