Virginia did so well last November, so why is it now regressing to a fascist state again, about to elect the most awful right wing crazies to the offices of Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General

I'm not insanely enthusiastic about Deeds, but I voted for Democrats across the board - on principle.

If you only see the ads (which, lets face it, is all a lot of people get), Deeds comes off as desperate and nasty, while McDonnell is doing his damnedest to come off as moderate. The last two ads I saw of McDonnell's were women talking about how good he would be for job creation, while the Deeds ads had this scary "he's coming for your children" vibe. I don't know what the strategy was there, but it didn't give me warm fuzzies. People may be reacting to that.

I know how you feel. For a while there, I was pretty proud of California: we had marriage equality! #3 in the nation, yeah! And then... we went and voted it away. *facepalm* We didn't even do that when the CA Supreme Court struck down California's antimiscegenation law.

Even Ah-nuld, who spent his first five or six years in office being really quite progressive--there was one year where his proposed budget for schools was more than the unions had asked for--has slipped back into full-on regressive-taxation Republican mode.

Though, thankfully, not as bad as your clown appears to be.
