I have been watching Justified since late S1 thanks to the wonderful suggestion made by she-rockstar and I've enjoyed every season so far this last season hasn't been any different.
This season has been different from the seasons past because there has not been any 'main' villain, we have instead many different villains so far, and the hunt for a man named Drew Thompson who brought cocaine to Harlan way back when...
At first I wasn't sure what to think of the lack of singlular villain to root against but quite frankly I really enjoyed the search for Drew Thompson including the who is Drew because it was fun to play detective and find out that my hunch that the Sheriff was indeed the inigmantic Drew Thompson.
The ending to this Season was kind of anticlimatic, but I enjoyed the fact that is was a slick way to end it, Raylan used his head and set up Nick who was going to kill Wynona and the baby to be taken out by Sammy, Theo's kind of a pussy heir and now head of the Dixie Mafia. It was a nice way to take out the garbage while still keeping his hands clean and allowing him to keep his job. I loved how Nick didn't know Raylan very well and it showed in how badly he underestimated Raylan and the lengths he'd go to take care of his family.
I have to say there were so many things to love about this episode, it's hard to pick.
If we go from the beginning, the scene where Raylan walks into Wynona's house only to find three gun thugs waiting for him with Wynona as a hostage was just wonderfully done. Especially the thugs disbelief that Raylan would be able to kill them all, and Wynona's conviction that Raylan was up to the job because she told them as much when they first showed up at the house.
I also love Boyd and Raylan's diffunctional relationship, they're friends, enemies and yet they know the other will have the other's back when the situation arises, the car seen was well done and brought to light what we already know is that they are the flip side of each other's coin.
On another side note I keep seeing the preacher's sister popping up everywhere, at the end when she is their watching Eva getting arrested and Boyd taking a beating from the police you have to wonder what role she's played in all this... I still say that Cassie and Tim have a weird sort of relationship and I can't help but wonder if that will be explored later on.
I'm tired and I'm going to go to sleep.
