Weren't they!!! Here on the E. Coast I saw the Z Plays Z band June 13th (Front row center! That's fantastic for seeing the band but I would have heard them better just a few rows back.) Dweezil had a look of shock on his face when the audience bounded up and burst into enthusiastic applause and he felt compelled to remark, "Whoa, I never expected that kind of reception! That's the first expression of enthusiasm like that we've seen yet! Gotta thank you folks for that one!" (Bear in mind that this was Boston, not noted for anything other than being very reserved and carefully understated.) Apart from the "Chunga's Revenge" opener the whole night remains a jumble in my head as to what followed what and when. The stage was small enough that "Cute Little Terry" had to set up his drum kit ridiculously close to the lip of the stage. His performance of "Black Page Drum Solo" was like nothing I'd ever heard live!
I went on Oct. 29 in wallingford CT. It was out of this world, it was like listening to FZ himself, Steve Vais' solos were incredible, I still sometimes go to the Z plays Z website just to whatch the videos and look at the pics of the concert, I also got my 6 y/o girl addicted to FZ, well some of the songs for the time being, her favorite is "hot plate at the green motel" and "don't eat the yellow snow". we had decent tickets, right in front of the sound people, center. 3 and 1/2 great hours. I just saw on the web site that 2007 will be posted soon, can't wait.
