Summary: Jinki, Jonghyun, Kibum and Taemin are almost ready to debut as a group, under one of the biggest entertainments in Korea, but before they can, their manager makes an announcement, that changes everything.
A/N: Hi guys! I've started on my 3rd fan fiction, this time writing it with my sister!! She was the one, who got the idea for this, since she's a 2min shipper, but we worked on it together :3 AND, before you start asking, I am still working on chapter 3 of Sweet Taste xD I know there's not any fluff or romance in this chapter, but it will come around in the next one. Chapter 01
It was yet another busy day at the company. Jinki, Jonghyun, Kibum and Taemin had been practicing all day, and was exhausted.
"Why do they have to train us THIS hard everyday?" Jinki complained with a displeased look on his face.
"Well, someone is obviously not at the same level as certain people here, so it's needed." Kibum snapped back. Jinki, who wasn't in the mood for a fight with Kibum right now, just rolled his eyes, and ignored, what he said. Jonghyun and Taemin, just observed their fellow members, not caring about their little discussion. They were all too tired to make a big deal out of it.
"Hey Taemin, could you show me that dance move again? You know, the one from the second verse. I kind of have trouble with it." Jonghyun asked.
"Sure hyung, this is how it goes" Taemin replied, and demonstrated. As usual, Taemin made it look so easy. Jonghyun tried to do the same, but still couldn't get it right.
"Argh, it's so frustrating! I don't get, how you can move like that" Jonghyun said, looking at Taemin.
"It isn't that hard hyung, you just have to do like this" Taemin said and demonstrated the dance move again. Kibum who had looked at them from a distance, wanted to show of his dance skills as well, especially in front of Jonghyun. He and Taemin did the move together, and it was easy to see, that they were the best dancers out of the members. Jinki and Jonghyun joined them, and they went on with their practice.
After a couple of hours, they were all worn out. They were all drenched in sweat, from the hard work-out, so they decided to take another break. They were about to go out for lunch, when one of the staff members came into the room.
"The manager wants to see you" he said, leaving the room again. On their way to the manager's office, Kibum was complaining, but none of the other listened, since they were used to his nagging. As they enetered the office they saw their manager, but he was not alone in the room. Sitting in the chair beside him, there was a tall, handsome guy. Taemin got eye contact with him, and they both blushed a little. Taemin looked away, hoping the others didn't notice. The guy looked about the same age as Kibum. Confusion started to show on their faces, as they looked at the young man.
"You wanted to see us?" Jinki asked politely.
"Yes, please sit down" The manager said and they followed his order. When they were all seated, the manager said
"I called you here to talk about your debut."
It was pretty obvious, that they were both nervous and exited about this announcement. The manager, then continued
"I've given it a lot of thought, and somehow it seemed as if you were lacking something as a group"
The boys looked at eachother in confusion, and couldn't see how this was related to the other guy.
"So, I came to the conclusion, that this is what you were lacking" he said and pointed towards the guy. The tall guy stood up, bowed and said
"Hello, my name is Choi Minho. I will be your 5th member, it's very nice to meet you all"
Silence then fell upon the room, and it was easy to see that Minho was a bit uncomfortable about the whole situation. Jinki then broke the silence by saying,
"Oh, I-I see... Well, uhm ..."
"You can leave now. Please show him around the company." the manager said in a serious tone. As they reached the door, the manager added
"And by the way, you won't debut before Minho is good enough, 'cause there is something to be worked on. You'll see for yourself"
Minho was slightly offended, but didn't show, and they all finally left the room. As they were walking towards the dance studio, no one said a single word, and an awkward atmosphere filled the air.
When they got there Jonghyun sighed, before saying "How about we introduce ourselves? I'll start off. I'm Kim Jonghyun, the gorgeous lead singer" he said with a smirk. Kibum rolled his eyes, and slapped Jonghyun's arm, but he couldn't help, but smile a little himself.
"I'm Kim Kibum, my stage name is Key. Nice to meet you" Kibum said, sounding like he didn't mean the last part.
"I'm Lee Jinki, the leader, nice to meet you" Jinki said with a welcoming smile. They all looked at Taemin, expecting him to continue. Taemin didn't realize, because he just couldn't stop staring at Minho, but when he turned to look at Taemin as well, his face turned red, and he looked down.
"Uhm, well I'm ... Nice to meet y-you, I'm Lee Taemin" was all he managed to say. Minho smiled and thought to himself 'Wow, he's pretty cute'. It didn't take long before Kibum started talking again.
"Well, Minho, show us your skills. If you have any, that is"
Kibum crossed his arms over his chest, looking arrogantly at Minho. Since Minho was a smart boy, he could sense that it wasn't a good idea to stand up against this Kibum guy. Minho then put on a CD, he had brought himself, and started dancing. The other members just observed in silence. When the music stopped, and Minho was done dancing, or what you would like to call it, he looked at the shocked faces in front of him.
"O-M-G, the manager was totally right, you DO suck." Kibum scoffed.
"Well, he didn't actually say that he sucked, just that.." Jonghyun said, but Kibum cut him off, before he could finish his sentence and said
"But he certainly does."
"Aw, come on Kibum, don't be such a diva" Jonghyun complained. Kibum just looked at him like he was a complete idiot, before turning around saying "Whatever", leaving the room. Jonghyun followed him, knowing he was the only one, who could calm him down, and they were both out of the room quickly. Jinki, who wasn't a fan of confrontation, decided he was going to leave as well.
"Uhm, I think I'll go buy some ... chicken. See you later guys!" Jinki said, almost running out of the room. Now Minho and Taemin was left alone in the dance studio.
"I knew this would happen. This was such a bad idea" Minho said in a frustrated tone. "I suck at this..."
"I-it wasn't that b-bad..." Taemin stuttered. "You a-actually do have the potential to become better, you just need some more practice..."
"Just stop lying to me, if you don't mean it, I'm not stupid. By the way, how would you know?" Minho said with irritation in his voice, not trying to be mean.
"Well... I didn't get to say it before, 'cause you know.... Uhm, b-but I'm actually the lead dancer of the group." Taemin replied.
"You just have to do more like this" he said and started dancing. Minho was obviously impressed by Taemin's skills, and just looked amazed at him. As soon as the music stopped, he walked towards Taemin, with a glimpse of hope in his eyes, asking
"Can you teach me?!"
