Art post

I finally got around to attatching the aluminium claws I made, to the glove that I (badly) modified to look more paw-like. These are rather flimsy, and crudely made. I'm currently wondering how I might go about making some of better quality. These are basically a proptotype, as was the mask. I feel I now have a better understanding of how to make ( Read more... )

Your artwork is consistently inspiring. Truth be told somewhat daunting as you have such talents, from a young age ( ... )

Thanks muchly. Applying weird growth-like things to my creatures is something I have a habit of doing throughout art.

For the claws I used a 1.2 mm thick sheet of aluminium, cut out the claws, then shaped, drilled and sanded them. The flimsyness is mainly in the glove itself, and how the claws have been attatched. While I get the feeling that the glove won't be too long-lived, I can easily re-use the claws and attatch them to something else. Which is something I may do, if I ever get around to making another paw-glove.
But yes! I am also thinking of using modeling clay of some sort, for claws of a different style. The aluminium ones were not meant to look like claws from an actual creature, but that is something I would also like to experiment with..

Your artwork is made of awesome, there are so many genious twisted ideas, and the anatomy is excellent. Frankly, you shouldn't doubt at all about your skills.

And the one that didn't sell, it's because you proposed it to the furry fandom. It's much more suited for fantasy geeks who collect badass original stuff, deliciously deformed monsters and whatnot. There's a public for it, I'm sure. Okay, Chimera Synx draws monsters that have success in the furry fandom, but those are characters, while here it's a concept. Just try to contact fantasy publishers.

I should trade with you at the occasion, when you feel like it.

Ah, I know :P I bought mainly furry-styled art with me to the con, as well as a few slightly twisted pictures. I know this style won't appeal to most furs, but regardless I wanted people to see some of what I normally do. And it led to meeting a couple of interesting, seemingly like-minded people.
I am looking for circles where my style of art might be more appreciated, but it seems I am on the fringe of a fringe of a fringe. So far furry circles are still where I've found the most interest.

Thank you.

Yeah... left out the boobs. My creature stays an it regardless of its form.
I didn't think to post pictures of the claw-thing I made, not sure if it's really worth showing off. But here you go, this is what it looks like at the moment, looming over my unsuspecting beardlet in the background. http://www.zarathus.com/ou/clawbeard.jpg
