eventually im going to build a new computer, hopefully sooner then later, and i figure ill load Win2k on it, maybe Xp prof (yeah I know what ive said about it previously) os should i wait for the replacement for vista that the rumor mill is saying is coming out 2 years early, and by 2 years early i mean later this year

ubuntu is as good a place to start as any. it's easy to set up and use and you can fuck around with things once it's up.

since it's open source, distros vary.. i mean the linux kernel is common but even that is fucked around with. distros vary based on what they're packaged ith, what kind of support, what k ind of license, purpose, blah blah, goes on forever so i wouldn't worry too much about it initially.
