Fic: Cut-Ups, Nine/Rose/Jackie Tyler, Drabble, Part 3/4
Here we are at Part 3 of my little drabble drama, Cut-Ups. I actually managed to keep this segment to 100 words!
To Refresh:
This is Part 3/4 in a "long form" drabble (?!) I'm writing for ahedonia . Basically, it's one story told through multiple drabbles: each carries on from where the previous drabble left off.
Previously, I threw out a challenge to my Flist:
I offered to write personalized Doctor/Rose drabbles for the first 5 of my flist buddies who responded. The plan was/is to incorporate 1 or more of their "interests," taken from their user profiles, into my fic. The catch was that each of them would have to do the same back for me.
Scanning ahedonia 's Interests list, I saw that we have two interests in common: Sarcasm and Your Mom. I also poached a line from her bio about finally using up an industrial sized box of Q-Tips (in Part 1/4), and now I'm taking Creativity from her Interest list, as well. “Th-there. That’s you, done,” Rose manages, swallowing hard.
“So go on, share with the class. How do I look?” He tries to sound casual, but his intense gaze is anything but.
“You look like … yourself.”
He scoffs.
“No, Doctor. You look - ”
Beautiful, is what she wants to say.
Rose doesn’t finish her thought. As it hovers in the space between them, she brushes his shoulder again - lets her hand remain there as they regard each other.
“That’s right,” he tells her, a new kind of softness creeping into his voice. “Flattery will get you everywhere.”
It’s Rose’s turn to blush.
